I have a six core processor, 16gb of ram and 2 graphics cards and they still cause lag for me.

Seriously we should just unsubscribe, and use the money we pay CCP to get better computers. Since all of us who don't have dedicated workstation graphics cards are obviously lazy and computer illiterate. Why should we complain about "silly game breaking clouds" when nerfing highsec or satisfying goons is way more important.

I have 2 GPU's as well, and I've never had issues with gas clouds.

2 680 gtx
8gb of video ram
16gb ram

he could have a different network with its own issues. Something to consider with online games is at some point you introduce the ISP effect. Ubercomputer is only as good as its weakesst link. Today that usually is the isp.

ISP also an area where you have limited control in for some. Best example would be the oceanics. Australia for example breaks down to a case of bad ISP or not so bad (but not so great) isp iirc basically. If your area only offers these 2 options, you choose what you can.

Extends beyond their borders as well. I know from games that gave us an oceanic server my gaming experience usually got a bit better to varying degrees. All those electrons jsut had to make a few hops to say Australia. Vice in a game like eve where those electron rack up some serious frequent flyer miles to change my game display frame by frame.

gas clouds are not affect by ISP, they are rendered by the client, the server just sends a packet with all the numbers of where the gas clouds should go, and what type of clouds.....Also... My machine is considered /worst/ then most of the machines here, and I can run three to four clients on the highest possible settings in gas clouds with no abnormal FPS drop... :\

Food for thought, my HD7850 is out for RMA right now so I'm using integrated graphics. I maintain 60fps on Intel integrated graphics (HD4000) undocking in Amarr, and I run at 1920x1200. This iGPU is about as fast as a mainstream card made in 2005. My sister runs EVE on a laptop I bought in 2007 with an 8600GT, which was low-end discrete at the time, and it's smooth as butter.

Just what kind of slow is your PC? What are your specs?

In response to another poster, EVE does not support Crossfire/SLI as I under stand it, you're better off disabling the second card, it might even be hurting your performance.

I run SLI. I havent noticed any performance issues. With interval set at 1, I get 60 fps. With interval set at immediate, I get over 250 fps.
