Awesome video, and now for 10+ years of nothing. Sad

RIP STS.

Nice clip.

Interesting fact: More money is spent on air condition for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan than on NASA's entire budget.

Did you like the advert telling you to buy Eve-online ships as well?

Lol... google adsense is the one who manages that. It's based on your cache. If you've been browsing EvE stuff, it will display eve related ads.

Funny story, in constant dollars, each Saturn V launch cost about $1 Billion (program cost/launches), each STS launch cost about $500 Million. Had the Saturn V program been continued rather than switching to the STS the ISS (in its present form) could have been completed in roughly 4 launches instead of the however many shuttle launches.

(And there's a decent chance we could have seen a moon base)

I made me sad to see the Challenger explode...not very inspirational that.

Take a look at Nixon's undelivered Apollo 11 speech. The brilliant people who become astronauts know the risks and think it's worthwhile. After the Apollo 1 fire, none of the astronauts backed out, same with Challenger and Columbia, the astronauts weren't happy with the delay in resuming flights. It's inspiring because despite setbacks and even the loss of human life, we keep trying, undaunted.
