Hi all,

I'm thinking about applying for a GM Job at CCP, but I would like to know more about the Job itself, what it's like to work for CCP and what salary one can expect or how much would one need to have enough for the month without penny picking.
Another thing is, I heard that you would have to close your accounts if you start at CCP, at least that was the case for CCP Rise, is that true for GM as well ?

I don't need to know exact numbers, but a hind in the right direction would be great. I figured it would be easiest to just ask here, though I think it might be like in Germany and Switzerland that you're not to talk about money/salaries out in the open, you can just write me a PM or directly to my email, I think a GM should be able to look it up on my account as I don't want to write it down here for obvious reasons :-)

Thank you very much in advance

The fact that you are asking the question here and not in the interview means you prolly should not since you prolly do not qualify. Or you might just not have a lot of experience with interviews, normally only after the interview phase do they make the offer which you can refuse or deny based Salary or working conditions.

No employee will ever talk against their own company in a public forum let alone the company forum unless they want to get fired.

Before I want to apply and therefor before any interview I would like to know a bit more about the job at CCP.
I'm sure that they won't say anything bad about CCP in the open, but like I said I guess they would be able to see my mail address if needed.
But I want to know more about the Job itself at CCP, like a typical day at work not if the Job itself at CCP is appealing or not, that's something everyone has to decide for themselves.

I know as well that the salary will be between me and CCP and not necessary related to the salary of other GM employees.
All I want is a little info beforehand so that I can better decide if the job may be appealing for me.

Those who want to be in a position of power, shouldn't be in a position of power.

Hey, maybe i should try myself as GM too. And Kane.
And Mittani. Tippia would be great too.

We all should apply for a job as GM at CCP !

Not sure if this is a troll or just a very very bad open application for a job...

GM's have to live in Iceland, they have to physically be at CCP headquarters and they are not allowed to play

I don't see where this is a bad question, I mean you've got to get the answer somewhere.
How am I to know if let's say 3000isk is a good salary or not ? I'm not living in Iceland therefor it's not that easy for me to judge how much money I'll need over a month for rent, taxes and so on ?
It's hard enough to find out if the salary is you're offered in your own region is a good one or not.
This is definitely not a troll or an applycation, but a curious question.
I can't just move to Iceland and see for myself atm, I can check online for rent prices and taxes but some things just need to be asked.

A few years ago there was this... issue where previous CCP employees posted their findings on some website (forgot the URL). The end result was that payout was far below the norm in their industry and that corporate culture was one of "just get your job done, don't ask questions" all in a quite negative manner. And that was for DEVs so I doubt GM's had it any better.

Not sure if it's still the case though, perhaps they wisened up but you're dealing with Icelandic stubbornness and "lets keep everything under the rug" mentality.

You'll also have to be prepeared for being made redundant, ''last in, first out'' as I doubt CCP is doing any better financially since the last round of lay offs. DUST has costed a hefty amount to produce and not expected to pay off alongside investments into World of war (craft) darkness which has been a massive failure financially not even getting to launch date, the Yankee office closure.

The year long PLEX sales wreaks of desperation of keeping EVE afloat alongside abondining any significant game developments such as the new AVATAR system and station graphics in favour of over hyped small and cheap to launch game changes. Buffs to mining barges and a now total lack of enforcing botting of late also hints at a scramble too keep player numbers up as well as continuing changes to high sec war decs.

Is CCP even recruiting at the mo? please link the job posting if so.

Glassdoor.com was the website, and CCP's page was the place.

From what I understand from talking with devs and GMs last year at gangway, when you get hired, tor eve accounts are placed on hold for a minimum of 6 months to a year to prevent fraud.
Depending on how we'll known your character is, you may never be able to play them while employed by CCP.
From what I understand once you leave the company you can play your old characters again.

You are not likely to get anything else on this forum as it is not really the right place for this topic.

Going to fanfest and talking with GMs and DEVs would be your best bet. They like to talk to players willing to buy them a beer.
I remember there were recruiters taking resumes last year even.

The CCP jobs posting site is.
http://www.ccpgames.com/en/jobs
The current posting for GM is based in the Shanghai office which would be working on Dust514.

A good way of getting experience is to volunteer for the ISD in some way.
Many GMs and Devs have been hired after being on the ISD.
