Opportunity for RvB

I am posting in General to get the attention of officials from Red Federation and Blue Republic. Once I get a response from them showing that they have seen the post it will then be safe to move this to the DUST 514 Information Portal.

In DUST 514 I am Fox Gaden, Director of Education for DUST University, and I am posting here today to notify RvB of a possible opportunity for them if they are interested in opening a DUST 514 wing to their operation.

On May 6th DUST 514 will get its next expansion/build. Included in this will be Planetary Conquest, which will involve Corporations fighting over Districts on temperate Low Sec planets.

DUST University and Bojo’s School of the Trades (two training Corporations) are going to be setting up on the same planet. We will be designating 3 districts each as our Campos’ which will supply us with the clones we need to carry out training battles. The rest of our Districts will be training districts which we expect to fight over every day in order to give our members plenty of practice and experience in Planetary Conquest battles. (Unlike other types of battles in DUST 514 the Planetary Conquest battles will have friendly fire active, and thus can only be effectively trained for by doing it.)

The opportunity for RvB is to setup on the same planet as the other training Corporations. Red Federation would have one permanent District, and Blue Republic would have one permanent District. Then they would take a third District that RvB would fight over every day at a set time. These three districts would be considered the RvB campos and the other training Corporations would not attack them. The remaining districts on the planet which are not part of a Campos would be a free for all with battles every day.

The idea behind this is for DUST 514 players who are not part of (can’t get into) an active Planetary Conquest Corporation to be able to join one of the training Corporations and get Planetary Conquest experience.

Planetary Conquest battles are 16v16 and can only happen once per day according to the reinforced timer on the District. While the Squad leaders must be from the Corp that owns the District, the rest of the squad can be from any Corp.

There are a lot of supporters of the Training Planet idea, including a number of the high ranked DUST Corps. If a Corp decides to grief us by attacking a Campos districts, there should be plenty of high ranked players who would volunteer to join a training Corp squad to fend of the griefers.

Note: I am about to leave on Vacation, so I will not be able to follow up on this thread until I get back, but I thought I should get the information out there so RvB have time to prepare. More information can be found at: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=67925

I've already posted a link to this thread to the shoutbox on the RvB forums, but it might be better for you to cross post this to there anyway.

Would be interesting if the real rvbers - those of us who fly spaceships - could reach out and touch the console rvbers from orbit.

We can do that cant we?

I wonder if it will be over complicated to get in as EVE Uni currently is for the Dust bunnies.

RvB doesn't accept Dusties unless they're an alt of a current RvBer. And the number of templars in both corps are negligible IIRC

The law-abiding and friendly residents of Molden Heath await with interest the appearance of orbital bombardment vessels around planets in their neighbourhood....

I have deliberately developed an air of cynicism that I originally intended to make me appear somewhat louche and caddish but actually comes across as irritable hostility combined with the unspoken threat of sudden violence.....

If you are in the same Alliance as a DUST 514 Corp in a Planetary Conquest battle then yes you can indeed support them with Orbital Bombardment.

So you guys are not interested in a DUST affiliate? You could set it up as two new Corporations: maybe Brown versus Grey or something. Might be better as Blue represents friendlies in DUST and Red represents hostiles. If Brown was in an Alliance with Red and Grey was in an Alliance with Blue then you guys could do some orbital bombardment.

In DUST two Corps in the same Alliance can attack each other in Planetary Conquest, so you could roll everything into a single Alliance if that works better for you. (Then you can have the same EVE ship doing OB for both sides.)

I thought I would at least check with you guys, as we are setting up a situation were the RvB model could be replicated in DUST.

Edit: Maybe Pie versus Cake?

Just to make clear, DUST University is not made up of DUST alts of EVE University members, although we do have some. We are an affiliate of DUST University, but we are a completely independent Corporation under separate management. We are in the same Alliance as EVE University though and we try to adhere to the same core principles as much as the game mechanics of DUST 514 will let us.

I am suggesting that RvB could setup something similar. I was not suggesting doing it with just the members of RvB who have DUST accounts, although those people could help set it up. You would need to have a true presence on the DUST side for it to work. But the RvB idea is so cool, and has such a reputation in New Eden that you should be able to recruit enough DUST players fairly easily.

Why would Dust bunnies join EVE University?
