A ganking carebear?

How novel!

metaphorically, t's basically like when Heffalumps stole Pooh's honey and he ran around screaming, but instead of running around screaming if he'd realized he was a bear and eaten them. That would be a ganking carebear...i.e., a fantasy in a dream in an allegory for children.

This. ^

No matter what buffs carebears get, some of us will find a way to gank them. EvE is still about non-consensual PvP.

Gankers that consider themselves skilled PvPers are akin to guys who consider themselves MMA cagefighters because they jump into the Chuck E Cheese's ball pit and punch six year olds in the face.

There's a whole variety of different flavors of PvP out there, friend. Ganking is one of them.

Ah. Well, since I don't consider myself a "skilled pvper", that lets me out.

I do like your characterization of the average miner as a six year old at Chuckie Cheese.

One would hope that people that subscribe to a game with a reputation for being dark and brutal would HTFU and learn at least a little self-defense.

Carebears only want to see consensual PvP like in themepark games.

Therefor they screech about how dishonorable ganking them must be.

I suppose you also consider me an evil person because when I played chess last week I MURDERED THE OPPONENT'S PAWNS. Yes, I ordered my vile, evil, ganking Knight to capture and exterminate the pawns of the rival king. Then if that's not enough, I killed their Bishops and committed the ghastly act of regicide.

It is perfectly possible to be extremely skilled at punching six year olds in the face. It might appear easy to just go in there and start throwing punches, but being able to get those faces punched with a minimal expenditure of energy and while avoiding the people that don't want you punching children is a different story.

The first challenge is actually catching the six year old, those little buggers are highly mobile and very manoeuvrable, I know that I can't keep up with my unofficial nephews, the little sods run rings round me and their father when we're playing football (soccer for the Americanese speakers) in the garden.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Being on the receiving end of a suicide gank is a great honour, gankees should thank us. It's an acknowledgment of their accomplishments - they achieved status that made them a target. We chose them, out of all the other people playing EVE, they were picked.

That six year old who got punched in the ball pit? You know about him. He was in the news. All the other kids who didn't get punched? No one cares about them. There's no report of activities revolving around them.

I generally murder the knights before moving on to the pawns.

But my comments were directed at miner ganking being the carebear version of PvP. The target is easy to find, relatively easy to kill, and most likely has no reasonable way to fight back during or after the gank. The loss of the ship is irrelevant because it was written off before the attack, and is extremely cheap.

I don't really care if people gank, but I just don't like to hold it up as the gold standard that the game should aspire too. Some gankers are accomplished PvPers, some are unskilled scrubs who would fold and cry in a real fight, but ganking isn't a measure of how good someone is at PvP.

I never had a problem with James 315, in fact I guess you could call me a supporter, but my god, some of the people that lick his taint are just unbearable to a degree I'm not sure I have ever encountered ever before.

Bump the hell out of miners, demand money from them, gank them to hell and back, but for **** sake stop thinking you are part of a damned religion that's changing the world for the better.

He encourages this kind of behavior. Just a reminder.

Hmm, on 2nd thought they couldn't be THAT dense, maybe they actually hate the game & want EVE to go under. Or they're the ones engaging in "market PvP" & are getting poor dumb slobs to help them drive up mineral prices. The thought of them secretly being traders & unwittingly prodding dimwits into making them shittons of isk makes me giggle like a pack of middle school girls at a "Twilight" movie premiere.

I have seen several people drawn to EVE by the player-created stories like the New Order, the Guiding Hand Social Club and the Asakai battle.

I'm yet to see one person subscribe because they think EVE's mining interface is exciting.

I have an idea lets just get rid of mining and we can just all fly around in rookie ships, with civilian modules.

A fleet mining op with an Exequeror (yes, a t1 logi boat) providing logi support is near impossible to gank too, but again that involves playing EVE not botting or multiboxing or AFKing.

Oh I get it now you are a poor one in real live and can't afford multiple comps or a powerful enough machine to run more than one client. Its all so clear now.

That would be funny.
