So since the drones have been changed what is the best ship for ratting in that region ??

you mean the npc ai change?

I always thought EM was best damage to use against drones, so nightmare/paladin?

while certainly not the good as more expensive options, i've heard that a well skilled oracle will crunch through drone anomalies with no trouble at all.

Tachyon fit Oracle and run the Drone Patrols, you can do the Horde's you just have to be wary of the ones with a lot of turrets in them.

This works well when warped in at range, it can one shot the Drone frigs at 130km with Standard. Drones are mostly short range so if you stay out beyond about 80km they will never hit you. The glaring exceptions are the turrets in Hordes and the Drone Queens as well as the Elite Drone AI in the Patrols which can hit you at around 60km, it's the only one you really have to worry about in those. The CCC rigs make this stable with the AB on and MF crystals so you can easily keep range.

I've always been a fan of the Paladin in drone space. Perfect combination of damage type and resist type. Looks awesome too.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

It's been maybe a year since I've actually run drone patrols, but when I did a T2 fit Maelstrom with autocannons was just as effective as a Nightmare, and for a fraction of the cost. It didn't have the range of the Nightmare, but since the npcs orbit so close it wasn't an issue. Also, the tank wasn't as good as my Nightmare's, but the Maelstrom was still more than comfortably permatanked without sacrificing dps. The only real advantage a Nightmare had over the Maelstrom was having to worry about ammo (EMP L vs drones), but that trouble was worth the difference in capital invested and risk.

You've got that completely backwards... The Nightmare should be doing more damage and having less tank than a Maelstrom.

Confirming Nigthmare best subcap for Hordes
Push your imperial multifrequency dps at 50km optimal and you can tank with a pith large b shield booster ( 100 milions ) without move if you don't mess the spaw

For belt chain ratting used a pulse oracle with mwd and dual shield extender shield buffer ( 2 extender rig and a collision t2 , 4 heat sink and 2 TE , all t2 ) over 1kdps, light time on warp/align , enought buffer to melt 3 Bs at once ( just remenber to do no shot orbiting with MWD on .... )
