To put it as simple as possible, The Clone system is an ISK sink & also something that ties in the "Risk v Reward" factor.

After all these years though, you'd have thought that the ability to have it automated might have been implemented - and Yes, most of us have done it at some point (got podded, station loads, jump in new ship, go out again without updating our clone, and get podded again!!

I agree that's it's annoying when it happens but it's just one of those things you sort of get used to after a while.

Cost wise - considering how easy it is to make isk now, the current prices are pretty much loose change for a majority of people.

In it's current state, all we can say is "REMEMBER to update your Clone"

If you don't, know ones fault but your own.

Ideas on a different solution?

Top of my head, how about:

Once you train a skill to 5, you have the ability to lock those SP into place so they can never be lost again.

Cost 1 mill for first one, 10 mill for the second, 100 for the third, etc (silly prices but just an example)

Once that skill is locked in & paid for, your clone upgrade ignores that skill.

eg.

char has 10mill SP - clone cost is 5mill
2 skills @ 5 for 1mill SP - cost 11mill to lock in those 2 skills permanently so that SP can never be lost
New Clone (10mill minus the 2 skills locked) = 9mill - clone cost 4mill

Still an isk sink to lock skills into place but keeps the cost of replacing your clone down if you have silly amounts of SP & do a fair bit of PvP.

and of course, you can't lock down the T3 skills Twisted

Again, that's just an idea off the top of my head.

Workable?? Who knows Lol
