I don't have a girlfriend or wife, but I still "get some" on a regular basis without having to pay for it. It's called affairs and I currently have three running. It can be stressfull but I enjoy the diversity.

Why I do that? Because I haven't met a woman who I'd want to live with, but I enjoy "getting some". It's nice and easy and I have no responsibilities (they haven't either), just having a good time.

Why am I talking about this on a video game forum? I don't know. I guess I just want to show you that having a girlfriend or wife is not necessary to "get some". I prefer this lifestyle, but to each their own.

oh? and i suppose these three are fully aware of each others existence and your involvement with them individually?

i somehow doubt it.

stuff like "ya those 200mm autocannons really sting, i have a girlfriend, but i can pick them up in jita pretty cheap now"

or

" align to evati IV, watch local, lol my wife haaaates me playing eve, warp to gate, jump jump jump"

why is this?

You have to realize that the average age of an Eveian is probably much higher than most other games. So, it's not unusual that more people would have girlfriends and wives. But, being that this is also a game and some of these same people, I know personally in game, who talk about their girlfriends and wives just makes me believe it's all bullsht because no girlfriend or wife is going to put up with their man playing a fcking video game for 16 hours a day!!! And what man, having a girlfriend or wife is going to be stupid enough to do that? And if they are doing that, you can be sure they're not going to have a girlfriend or wife for very long.

Don't ban me, bro!

I usually call my wife's ass 'charon' , she thinks it's a compliment .

interesting discussion this.

from what i gather from this thread and the aforementioned forum posts and team speak chats i have deduced the following;

1. eve has an older player base that is more likely to be in a relationship
2. eve also has players that feel insecure about playing an online space fighting game and feel the need to let other people know they are in a relationship, whether real or imaginary.

Yeah we'd feel a lot more secure if we where playing an elf , troll or dwarf ........ Shocked

Wife aggro, all the time. Wife aggro is a common term in corp chat. It is usually the cause of my logging off early.

Sounds like a 'No True Scotsman' argument there.

I can - and sometimes actually do - play extended times in EVE. It requires negotiation, and I often exchange that for her getting a similar length of time in her games in teh near future. Or other considerations - Like taking on some of her chores for a period of time. It's not an every-day thing, but if there's a fleet op coming up, or a live event, I can absolutely arrange to be there all day.

And dude, after you've been married a while, the various 'MUST. SPEND. TIME. TOGETHER.' urges and issues become less important. They don't go away, and my wife certainly has some fool-proof and pleasant ways of ejecting me from the game, but it's not all the time. We have lots of time outside the game, to love and argue and cook and raise kids and all the otehr things couples do.

And yeah, I brag on her endlessly, 'cause DAMN, but I got lucky when she said 'yes.' Cool

Yes.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Usually when I see them mentioned it's fairly relevant, e.g. "sorry guys I gotta drop fleet, wife aggro, -1 naga".
