Uknowledgable players will respect and fear you for having a high bounty. So all in all I would thank the player for giving you isk to raise your fear factor. :)

Also bounties disappear after 3 months? Really? That sucks, I didn't realise that.

So another person comes in and tells me it doesn't matter, I reply by saying that he must've done something to get a bounty that high.

Anyway, the second guy doesn't like my reply and places 55 Million on my head. I asked him why and he replied "It's hilarious" even though I didn't reply with anger, swearing or anything.

You've just learned a valuable lesson in EVE.

Not everything is done for a reason you might comprehend, or consider a reason, making it appear to be "without reason" from your perspective. But the reason he placed the bounty on you was exactly because of this perspective, because he knew it would tick you off.

It's not just a lesson for EVE, it's a lesson for the internet. Never make your weakness apparent. The fact that you thought someone with a bounty was untrustworthy was enough to convince someone to show you how untrue that is.

Even so, the first rule of EVE applies regardless of bounties. You were right not to trust him, but not because of the bounty.

You're obviously not annoying enough. Posting here got me more than half a billion.

You can create an alt and use it to repeatedly blow your ships up until the value of the bounty formula equals your loss

So your giving him advice to blow up 275,000,000ISK worth of his own ships to remove a 55,000,000 bounty.... good job.

The facetious trolling on this forum does make me lol.

Thats what you get for being prejudice against other people just because they have a bounty on their heads!

You just learned a lesson about morals, its like EVE online sesame street! :P

OP is now the 2344th most wanted man in the Galaxy at over a hundred million bounty.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

He would have to lose half a billion worth of ships and equipment to shave that bounty though.

Just unsub for 3 months and it will be refunded to the guys who put it on you. Feel free to start a second account to keep playing while the first one cools down, and once they send you a come back offer, take it and play for 10 euros a month. It's a win-win situation!

If you got his route: When you unsub the unsub page asks you why. Be sure to give the reason as "wanting to clear an unwanted bounty".

Another note: When you get blown up the bounty payout is based on the "Pend Insurance value" of what got blown up. As far as I know there is no way of finding this value for any item other than blowing it up. Its not the market value, and its been made resistant to manipulation. But.....

There are ebbs and flows in the market, prices climb and fall all on their own without the need for you to manipulate them. Thus there are items that, at times, can be bought well under the Pend insurance estimate. Find such items, load them in your ship, and get a corp mate to pop you. I have made a (pathetically small) profit this way. No I'm not telling you what items. They change week to week, so do your research. Also you can usually make far more money re-selling the same items.
