No, you have a bounty of 58 mil on your head for a perfectly good reason: You were being timid and frustrating. A bounty on a players head generally plays little more significance than to annoy the player, and in your case, despite the lack of flaming or swearing, it seems to have done that very well. Without your insistance that the other guy MUST have done something to earn his bounty, you wouldn't have ended up with your bounty. In effect, by placing the bounty on your head, the other players proved the point that you refused to accept: That he had not done anything significant to garner the bounty, and in fact, had done less than you have.

But, now that that has been explained:

To clear your bounty, you must lose 5x the value of your bounty, in ships (including fitted modules), and pods, with implants plugged in. When you are blown up, 20% of the value of your ship and its fitted modules, and then 20% of the value of your implants in pod, if podded, is the value of your bounty payout. The 20% was chosen specifically so people like you don't just clear your bounty at no expense. (I'm not kidding, or saying that to annoy you, you're welcome to ask around, or read through the dev blogs on the new bounty system. that is THE reason.

But, none of that REALLY matters, because bounties don't really do anything, except make people new to eve, think that someone with a bounty on their head, did something bad.

You have to lose 5x the bounty, so 5 * 58m = 290m ISK value ship(s) or more.

I wouldn't worry about it, and I certainly wouldn't start a new character over a bounty. Nearly all my characters have a bounty, even the ones that never undock.

Indeed. @ the OP: Consider these bounties a learning experience! You now know a lot more about the bounty system than you did before. (If you read some of the more informative responses in this thread, that is.)

Of course posting here got me up to 82 million by people from the thread.

Necessearly speaking, I'm not upset or angry. Just wondering what consequences this will have on the long term for me and how to get rid of those consequences and focus on other things.

I'm not trolling, the wikipedia didn't explain the bounty system very well and I didn't know you could bounty someone randomly anywhere. Because at first that seemed like a broken mechanic but someone in the Rookie Help channel told me it was true.

I got confused about the kill rights and everything so most people started assuming I was trolling, I've been getting hate mail and stuff like that. Don't know why, again as I mentioned I'm not angry, I just want to know what the bounty will mean for me on the long run.

Thanks for the help o/

Keep it, if people ask tell them you were given it by griefers and tell your story (stories are fun!)

Otherwise it means absolutely nothing, no one will hunt you for that bounty, no one can legally touch you in Empire for that bounty.

To the OP your bounty is worth around 2 mediocre level 4 missions with salvage and loot.
I doubt you're going to get ganked for that, just see it as a nice 'extra' warning to be alert, no AFK-ing etc. Blink

Edit:
Oh damn 83 miil already Oops make that 3 level 4 missions.

The only annoying thing about bounties is the red 'wanted' thing that appears at even the trivial amount of 100k.

If i recall correctly,
there's no bounty-payment for noobships.

I thought the cargo added to the loss total for bounty payments!

I'm pretty sure that only the ship counts.

I had a bounty of 100k and my shuttle destroyed and was podded with a set of basic implants and the bounty drop by 23,000 isk.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Yeah podkills should give bounty to at least 50% of the value of the clone and the ISK value of the implants in the LP store.

You get rid of bounties by being bad at PVP. At least that's how I do it.
