With the recent introduction of pirate versions of the starter frigates (and the avatar tattoos that CCP is still yet to release), and the already existing pirate epic arcs . I can't help but wonder if CCP is beginning to pave the way for the introduction of the pirate factions as an option that you will be able to select when you first create your character in EVE.

Maybe they would even get their own pirate version of the captains quarters. I would love to see a Blood Raiders captains quarters.

Obviously this would be an option intended for advanced players since these characters would likely begin their lives in low security or even null space.

I think this would be a fantastic addition to EVE.

Maybe Pirate faction warfare allows them to influence the security status of a system o.O

The pirate noobships are just another useless station trinket that you won't see anyone flying anymore within a month. Now if ccp actually wanted to implement a pirate faction it'd be awesome but i don't see it happening.

Bad posts are not welcome on these forums.  -CCP Falcon

I dont think CCP could make pirate-faction CQ's, especially if they allowed you to play as a sansha citizen.

Fully-fledged pirate factions, possibly with highsec pockets for their newbies?

Interesting idea.

FW is never something I have been interested in, but pirate FW however... Obviously, it would be nice to be able to alter the sovereignty of 0.0 NPC space, for example, a group of guristas taking part of Curse from the Angels.

The problem we'd have is, we suddenly wouldn't be able to dock in any lowsec controlled by one of the "Empires", which would be especially annoying and totally wrong, maybe if there was some way around it like having a character in the corp that owns the station, that is high ranked, that can allow the docking of certain ships, but has the possibility of being fined/caught for letting pirates dock.

I dunno, could be a fun idea to mess with.

They just need to make standings affect docking rights and we're golden Twisted

This, another wasted skin and opportunity. One days CCP might learn that adding things like this for players to produce and use might actually expand the game...

this could actually be pretty cool, but it shouldn't apply for high-sec though, carebears need a place to hide as well.
wanna bet that rancer would become a true-sec system within a day? Shocked

anyhow, it could be fun if pirates became a faction you can choose in the character creation.
Pirates should start in low sec (and the character creation screen should have a disclaimer saying exactly that) and should start off with low standing towards the Amarr, Minmatar, Caldari and Gallente factions.

being a pirate faction should also give you LP towards your native faction when you kill players in high/low/null-sec as well have a discount when buying pirate faction ship BPC's (from their native faction of course)

it could be pretty fun and add a new aspect to low-sec.

Unfortunatly would be heavily exploited, with the large 0.0 alliances turning their space into FOTM NPC, changing ratting, and more importantly exploration and DED sites in a region.

Well, you can practically play for a pirate faction by going out to their faction space and missioning for them already. Starting for a pirate faction from character creation would never happen though because random noobs who like the idea of being a pirate would choose it and then cry when they found out they are stranded in the depths of null with nothing to help them.

Perhaps pirate rookie ships will be gifted if you respawn in a pirate station, other than that Im not sure what they are for though. I'm sure CCP wouldn't include them for no reason though. For a start though they need to make pirate stations, now that would actually be cool.

CCP has already discussed wanting to take FW to the next level by including Pirate Factions into the mix, so unless something changes it's a matter of "when and how" not "if".

If ccp wants to expand eve and keep it from being stale, it's the only logical way to go.

I mean, the pirates would have eventually stolen capsuleer tech, and modified their ships for a pod to fit anyway.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.
