Summer/winter time is an outdated concept. It causes more trouble than it's worth because lighting is so cheap these days and the need to stay synchronized with people in other timezones is more important than ever. The government needs to nerf summer/winter time.

Sir, you are wrong. Those of you who work indoors, with electric light may not understand just how important that extra hour of daylight is to us grunts who earn our rl isk outside.

As interesting as this discussion is, it has only slightly to do with EvE.
So as a result, I should be moving this thread to Out of Pod Experience.

And in due time I probably will. If I can find the time that is. Always lost, time. It's a bit elusive .....Blink

525.6 days per year if you do it that way, a year being 1 orbit around the sun.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Nope, a day would remain the same. Only the the hours/minutes/seconds would change to fit the period of a full revolution, and then 365 revolutions would still equate to one full orbit. We would even still have leap years. Nothing would change except an hour and its gradients would become longer.

I'd rather like to keep my feet thank you very much.

How on earth would I be able to go to the toilet or leave my parents basement to go get more Cheetos if I didn't have some form of basic walking and balancing equipment on the end of my legs?

Maybe this is why Oscar Pistorius is a world famous athlete and marksman, and not the leader of a massive nullsec alliance in EvE. Maybe he just plays WoW instead?

Should just call it daylight saving time in the UK.

After the last few summers calling it "British Summer Time" is frankly taking the ****.

"british summer time"

pretty sure there's still snow in my garden...

The depressing thing is that (for this part of the Midlands) March, April and May are statistically the driest months of the year.

Oh and yes we still have snow in some shady corners - hardly surprising given overnight minimum air temp of -3C and minimum ground temp of -7.5C.

Isn't summertime lovely Ugh

We have the winter rains followed by the monsoon season here in 'sunny' Manchester.

This is not a signature.

Amusingly you are pretty close to the mark.

1-4 June is phase 1 of the European Summer Monsoon*;
10-14 June is phase 2;
18-27 June is phase 3.

That's why June is always so crappy in the UK.

*I'm not making this up, it really is called that Lol

We did, it's called decimalisation, we can still use the old imperial measurements, but they have to be used alongside metric equivalents for it to be legal. Even our fuel is sold by the litre these days.

I didn't know that. Interesting.

Lies. I don't remember 15C. Highest temp since Feb has been 9C and that was last Monday as I was stuck in a huge queue at Whetstone tip :(

The other way to avoid Daylight Savings Time (winter/summer time) would be to get a job at CCP to help make serious intrrnet spaceships better, and move to Iceland.

Also, statistically the time adjustment days are the most dangerous days to drive, as most people are out of balance adjusting to the modified time.

It would be useful if we could manually change the in-game clock or it read the time from my pc.

Two of the defining characteristics of a carebear are wanting other players to play the way the carebear wants and whining on the forums for the game to change when they don't. Yet I see more threads on these forums from gankers than I do miners whining about wanting the game changed to suit them.
