In addition to the points made on Ninja salvaging, there was far, far worse going on commonly since 2003. Most of the game rules we have today concerning Concord response times and strength are due to far more obvious aggression than simple and mild ninja salvaging.

Criminal acts in high sec today are fairly pathetic in comparison.

That's my take as well. As far as I'm concerned, EVE is TAME today compared to the past.

I think a good indicator is how in game stuff is making the "real life" news less often now than in the past. We're the 80 bil isk subcapital ship ganks to make it on BBC news? Or the epic spy stuff the fells whole coalitions overnight? Or the scandals that get mentioned in the Wall Street Journal?

I don't think is is a positive development, as EVE gets more "mature" and "civilized" the way many a GD poster wants it to, it looses that rough edged "wild west in space" thing that spawns epicness.

But hey, at least our ships now come with safeties so we don't accidentally our ships into low sec now.......

My thoughts on this

(tl;dr: you're quite right)

Did someone threaten to war dec you?

You should make a petition, clearly they are abusing the game mechanics. :v

No

My main was visited once by thieves.... when the thief turned yellow my main blew him up... then abandoned all the wrecks for giggles Pirate

Your correct on it being tamer.... I remember when "Warp to 0" didn't exist... made gate camps interesting instead of boring as hell.

In essence you're complaining about being tackled in a football game. No-one likes getting tackled and losing the ball, but that's the way the game is played and that's the game you have joined. I would suggest that you put a little time into finding out EVE actually works rather than complaining that it doesn't work how you imagined it to be.

If EVE (well, High Sec) was like football, the REFs would tackle you everytime you carried the ball to within 10 yards of the End Zone Big smile

Damn right they should. You arn't ment to use hands in football.

Welcome to Eve Adam.

The challenge here is not the rats or the missions, it is the bastard who stole your wrecks and threatened a wardec. That interaction is the most interesting part of the game. Grinding rats is no challenge and really no problem to figure out, most people soon tire of such gameplay.

Set a trap for the thief, recent changes to theft flagging mark the thief as a target to everyone making it much more difficult to ninja loot or can flip.

Move systems if you can't fight a war dec. Very few corps will follow you to a new location.

Or move into low/null. When there you at least know that anyone who is not blue in system is dangerous.

start farming wormholes instead of missions.

There are options for you even if you can't fight, take advantage of them and just plan on loosing some ships. That is the great disconnect that I see with Eve and new players, the idea that perfect play will protect you from loss, it wont. You must be prepared to loose ships in Eve.

Right on the (Space) money with that article, and yet many a "solo/casual" won't understand that, because "they just play games to chill".

it's not like choice of game to chill with should matter or anything lol. I am not predicting doomsday/EVE is dying as it were, but it does really seem to me that CCP is kind of going in the wrong direction. The game needs more bloodshed and what other games would call "douchebaggery", not less.

You could create a wallet-division in times of peace within your corporation.
If you get war decced, you can hire mercs to defend you, if you aren't able to do so.

This is an advice, if you typed your first post with serious thoughts and still monitoring this thread.

Would you believe me if I told you that I envy you?

Back when I was running missions (actually not that long ago) it was so boring that I had wished to get more interaction with others - the bad sort of interaction to be precise. I'm not even talking about little things like ninja looters/salvagers... I would have loved a Wardec (however unlikely on my 1man corp), falling for good scam or getting suicide ganked in one of my expensive ships.

The worst thing that ever happened to me was a hurricane or tornado (not sure which, but one of the common ganking ships) targeting my industrial with 1.5 bil cargo. Yes, TARGETING - he did not open fire. And sadly so because I would have congratulated that person for his patience and efforts paying off.

The thrill of danger and losing something valuable is what I love about EVE after all.
IMHO you should be happy that the game and it's fine citizens did deliver it to you.

So someone was mean to you and you think it's the game's fault? No, you should realize that you're on a level playing field. Get skills, or get friends, or get a merc corp to slaughter the guy. It's a war dec, and it doesn't grant him invulnerability from you.

The best tears in the game are the tears of wardeccers that get shot up by supposed carebears.

I have done this and it is indeed glorious.

mercs are expensive though, aren't they?

OP looks pretty new I don't know if he'd have that kind of money.

good way to spend carebear loot though!

Tough love here buddy so get ready.

You have no friends, you are running L4's in a one man corp that you might flesh out with your alts. You would like the rules that govern real life to disappear here because you're in a game world and that should allow you to be whatever you want to be right? Wrong, part of the thrill of Eve is that it functions very much like the real world and real world skills are needed if you want to survive and then prosper.

The bullies here are the same as everywhere, they search out weak and vulnerable or pompous people and exploit them. Predators look for signs, when you've been in the game a long time they are easy to spot. What signs? Your badly spelt and confused corp description, your location, an invite only 1 member corp suggesting it will grow to be mighty and powerful, the aspirational rhetoric,

We are a gruop of people who respect each other (sic)

How are you a group, the two contacts you mention possibly? The two alts who were born at or around the same time as the guy who heads up the 1 man corp?

To the bad men in Eve, you are a walking, talking piñata and they'll dip your juicy dumplings in plum sauce and tuck in.

You need to search out a good quality corporation that does the things you like to do and sign up. This will open up a whole new world of content and interaction and it will mean that you will no longer face threats alone, in fact you probably won't face threats at all because griefers don't like people with friends and they don't like people that fight back.

YOU are making YOURSELF a victim, the predators are just doing what predators do. If you walk around cities at night on your own then eventually someone will grab you and put their little finger up your bottom. Don't be that bottom, you don't have to feel the finger.
