Came here looking for directions, found them.

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

I think the skill queue is one of Eve's best features.

One can plan ahead and look forward to be able to do something new periodically.

The main thing is to utilise and have fun with however few skill points you have.

Like many folk starting Eve , my main aim was to be able to fly a Battleship (Navy Issue Dominix ) well, but I had a great time doing other things in the year or so it takes to get enough skills to fly a BS well.

In short, it is not how many skill points you have, but how much your imagination enables you to get from them.

This is not a signature.

1) play the game
2) say you don't like it
3) get money back
4)????
5) profit!

I want that too.

There are other games for you to play.

WOOT first 0/10 for a troll

if on the very slim off chance that the OP isn't trolling, GTFO and find a shallower game to play, people have already pointed you to more suitable alternatives.

You've obviously got the attention span of a gnat, and the longevity of a can of red-bull at an overnight LAN party.

Do you think we were all born gifted to be able to fly battleships? being able to use multiple manufacturing & research slots? being able to lob projectiles 100+km?

I, like many others, started with 5,000 skillpoints, no such things as re-maps, skill queue, and no tutorials that handed you bucketfuls of isk and skillbooks, just a basic one.

What do you want? a few million skillpoints to spend as soon as you get onto the server, "Waah, I've spended my skillpoints in the wrong place, CCP can I haz them back pleeze?"

You can buy PLEX to purchase a ready-skilled character if you want.

CCP's general trend is towards the removal of more powerful ships in order to give new players like you a chance. One day there won't be any ships left for us veterans to fly because the ships we liked couldn't be killed by a rifter, or were able to very occasionally blap a ship worth 1/100000th their value because its pilot made numerous compounding pilot errors (and that's obviously unbalanced, it should be impossible for one player to win just because the other guy had no idea what he was doing).

CCP have never removed a ship. Stop bawwing because your PUSH BUTAN AoE doomsday is gone.

and now, show me another game where on your first day you'll be able to kick the asses of nearly decade long veterans who know the game inside out and their understanding of game mechanics alone will have you scurrying off home with your tail between your legs.

please, i'm intrigued to see this game.

A Non-Fanboi Look at EvE

Quote:

Nisktonhen is a perfect example of what the OP says when he means elitist players in EvE, and just about every comment he makes just make the rest of EvE players look bad. People like this guy make EvE ******.

“EVE on the other hand is a sandbox, you can do anything you want at any time anywhere.”
- Whenever someone says you can do “anything you want at any time anywhere” in a video game, you know they’re so full of **** it’s coming out of their mouth.

“EVE is the big boys’ playground; it resembles the real world.” / “EVE is alive and despite its SciFi image resembles real life quite well.”
- This is another common “EvE elitist” quote on why EvE is so great. EvE doesn’t resemble real life, it’s just complicated like real life is. If griefers and flat-out murderers (you can kill a person’s pod in EvE, effectively killing their character) were given the same punishments as griefers and murderers in the real world, EvE would actually be a much better place and weed out all of the assholes like this guy. How about we ban characters’ accounts for life for murdering another character? Or would that then be too real world for you? Simply put, EvE is great for griefers and scammers because they’re unregulated, EXACTLY UNLIKE the real world.

“EVE is a game where one player can make all the difference IF they work hard”
- I’d like to see one example of one player, all by them self, “making all the difference” in EvE. EvE is 100% a team game. I don’t think people are aware of just how important it is to join a corp and make friends.

“one player that works hard can supply a region with items that would otherwise not be available”
- Not really. Again, it’s very, very rare for one player by them self to be able to do anything significant in EvE.

TL;DR

If you’re the kind of person that can’t take the time to read this post, EvE is probably not for you.

i found myself loving this role.

Take a look from other side: without you (tackler) your gang won't have any kills. You are the first person in any kill your gang got. Not the biggest damage nor the final blow. But first attack!

You don't find tackle fun to fly?

You're not gonna find much else fun to fly, really. Not in a fleet, anyways.

Maybe logistics...that's a long train.

OH WAIT

They just added logistics frigs/t1 cruisers that are actually pretty ******* good.

Give that a shot before rage posting on the GD forums.

Getting to the level cap on a single class in your average MMO these days, is roughly equivalent to flying a single race's T1 Battlecruiser/Battleship in EvE with relevant skills to level 4.

Yet unlike EvE, that player can actually catch up.

EvE you'll never catch up if you didn't start on day one.

Why that's important? A skills based game = higher skills = more powerful player.

You'll also will face this...

The MAIN point of EVE is to :

1) Greaf New players until they quit.
2) Be as big of a jerk as possible on the chat
3) BUY ISK
4) suicide attack people.
5) Make the game as boring as possible.
6) More gr.
7) Still more gr.
8) Make a corp for newbs so you can drag them into unwanted wars
9) more gr.
10) more gr.
11) more gr.
12) more……………………………..
13) Money and time are more important than knowledge or skill
14) even more Gr.
15) SPAM
16) can’t leave corp for 24 hr’s so you CAN’T PLAY AT ALL because if you undock 1273098473208 people will attack you.
17) Harassment is acceptable behavior.
18) Did I mention Greafers?

Eve is great if your a small person with no life and excess $$$ if you want to have FUN go somewhere else.

My purples maybe worthless in 6 months, but a new patch/expansion everyone starts off at square one again.
