Should I go to null?

Hey guys,

I'm still new at this game, been playing for just over a month. My plan with EVE was to start doing industry, trade and research and when I'm stinking rich and then later when I know more about everything I can easily pick up some PvP or whatever.

The thing is, I'm faced with the option of going to nullsec soon. I obviously do all my trade & manufacturing in high. Would it be worth it to move to null? Are the industry / trade opportunities there very good for a noob industrialist? Please remember I have no intention to mine (anymore) or to do PvP. I know they're lucrative but I don't want to do them now.

Thanks in advance.

If PVP is something you are not interested in doing (or refuse to do) i would advice against going to 0.0. But thats just my opinion.
For trade i can see how there can be some good deals to be made, but im not sure if it would be worth the hassle compared to doing trade in empire.

Basically i cant see how 0.0 would benefit you in any way, but in the long run it comes down to you and what you feel would be interesting to do/see.

The main problem you will have in Null is getting Ore/Minerals. They generally aren't available in high volume, unless you mine it your self.

No.

In 0.0 there are no such beings as non-pvpers. Everyone pvps' some much more than others, but if you don't even intend to hop into a Rifter to fight people attacking your home - then don't bother. You will be kicked sooner rather than later. Unless your corp/alliance suck horribly.

As mentioned above you might need to mine to get minerals to build stuff. Problem is stock level might be low, and you do not want to haul stuff all over null in a slow squishy. That said there are thing you can build in 0.0 without minerals but even salvage might run out and you need to rat for it yourself.

Right, I'll stay in Empire a while longer then.

I know everyone PvPs in null, that's why I want to avoid it for now. 90% of my SP so far has been in Industry and Trade so I can't even pilot a decent ship with a decent fitting. I'll make the switch later when I'm more comfortable and have more information on the subject.

Thanks.

Terrible alliances will let you in and let you do your own thing but they're terrible with terrible people, terrible leadership, terrible losses, terrible security and terrible drama. They'll also fail cascade every time there's a week in the month and they'll get kicked in the nuts every day of the week.

Good alliances will want something from you in return and that will quite possibly be some sort of pvp effort, you're expected to man up, be prepared and do your part. Note that effort. your effectiveness and usefulness doesn't necessarily come from your SP count but rather from your will to put in effort, learn and and be a team player.

Up to you.

If that "option" consisted of you paying 500 mil ISK for membership in some Null-sec Corp, it was a scam anyway...

Anybody can PvP.

A brand new character can train into a tackling role in a matter of hours.

Frigate skill - check
Prop mod skill (AB or MWD) - check
Propulsion jamming skill (for Point or Scram) - check.

Go tackle, go.

But if you have no desire to PvP, forget about null-sec.
The proper alliances won't let you in, they expect some help with defending space that makes you able to make money from it.
The fail alliances will let you, they don't expect anything but likely will end up without space as soon as a proper alliance wants that space for themself.

there would be trading oppertunities, but all the alliances hold a blue only pollicy, wich kills open trade.

There are some small opertunities in NPC 0.0

but the thing with solo-ing in non high-sec area's, is that you need to learn it, find the routes ect. ect.
