Client stops responding not long after logging on

As the title suggests, i have recently come back to Eve after an 18 month break and installed the game no issues, until i try to log in.

About 5-30 seconds after character selection the client goes grey and says it has to close. It has done it every single time i have tried to log on.

The same happens for my girlfriend when she tries to log in too.

Any ideas?
