Can we get some more information from CCP on what sorts of currencies are used where?

We know the Caldari State uses a corporate "scrip" for every megacorporation among the big eight, and some lesser ones as well. For example, you'd have Ishukone scrip, and Wiyrkomi scrip, and CBD scrip.

We know there is a currency called the "Quantum" in the Republic, but it's implied this is not the only currency used there.

What is the Amarr currency? What is the Federation currency? Are there different currencies for each Federation member state, or each Amarrian royal house? Do the smaller nations like the Ammatar Mandate have their own currencies?

Furthermore, it would be nice to have an exchange rate from ISK to otherwise on these things, both for roleplay and immersive purposes. A loose set of guidelines like the Ship Crew guidelines would be VERY helpful even if it only included the major currencies.

The impression you get is that planetary currencies/corporate scrip/etc is laughably worthless compared to ISK. I vaguely recall a little fluff story in years past featuring an interview with crew members of a surviving ship from an Alliance Tournament which said something to the effect of each crew member receiving 500,000 isk, and the crew member being interviewed talked about how he was going to retire to a resort planet.

I'm having a devil of a time actually finding this fluff story though, so maybe it's all in my head. Straight

Not all in your head.

Here's some (all?) of the series of stories about the crew in the alliance tournament

Third one says:
Axel, as a survivor who made it through the entire tournament, is entitled to a victory purse of 250,000 ISK. Enough to comfortably retire on. "It's more money than anyone in my family has ever had," he said. "I've got a lot of family back home. I can put my parents up in a nice house, send some nephews and nieces to college."

I think this is the one you mean ?

Not sure how canon the EON chronicles were ever considered but...

"EON #30 - The Rose's Bounty" wrote:
I arched an eyebrow as Ai took the datapad and examined it for a moment. Her eyes grew wide and she showed me the first few lines.

Items Recovered:
20x Slave Alpha Implants... 54,000,000.00 ISK each (median buying price)
20x Slave Beta Implants... 73,000,000.00 ISK each (median buying price)
20x Slave...

After the third line I stopped reading and stared at the total value. "This... this is insane? What the hell could we do with that much isk? That's what... 30 billion Gallente credits for each implant?"

Now, there is almost certainly some level of exaggeration there, but it probably isn't much more than an order of magnitude or so. So, on the low end... 3 billion gallente credits = ~60,000,000 ISK, or around 50 gallente credits an ISK. On the high end that could be 5,000 gallente credits an ISK.

Of course, that tells us absolutely nothing as we don't know the Purchasing Power Parity of that... but 250,000 ISK is enough to retire on for a crew member, and enough to put multiple children through university.

I remember a dev saying that there are a huge amount of currencies in the universe but ISK is the most universally accepted and hard to acquire. They also said each system or sometimes even each planet will have their own currency, but ISK is the baseline currency and even a shuttle which for us is so cheap it's basically free, would constitute a serious investment for anyone. Akin to a private jet or luxury yacht.

But what is the ISK itself?

Its an artificial currency sponsored by Concord right? Wouldn't that then follow that the ISK is a basket of all the other currencies or major currencies at a set refund rate like the Reserve notes of the IMF/UN?
