Smarter A.I is a good thing, though drones are getting destroyed more, perhaps the drones themselves could have more defense now ?? not sure ?

With some good skills and awareness, you should not lose very much drones. Maybe a light or so but that's about it. I don't use heavy drones so i'm unsure if they get targeted/killed often. Sentries is the way to go in my opinion.

I sell drones and drones accessories.

Never lost a sentry. Only lost a few lights and meds from not paying attention

I'm sorry but you should not lose many drones. I have never lost a sentry and any lights I lost from carelessness. The AI changes were overhyped by folks who preferred to AFK mission.

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

It all depends what your Bay & Bandwidth can support.

How far you let them wander will really be modified by your drone support skills. Navigation/Durability in particular.

Heavy Drones --> 15-20km
Medium Drones --> 15-25km
Light Drones --> 20-25km

Sentries
Gardes up to about 50-55km
Bouncers up to about 110km

Navigation at L5 will shorten the fly-back time reducing the 'shot at' chances
Durability at L5 will let them take a couple of extra hits

it's about as much as you do, without switching to a non-drone boat.

Guristas are especially proficent at killing drones as their cruise missiles can hit hobgoblins fine.

Use sentries and lights in as a close range system. I wouldnt bother with the rest.

I dispatched a heavy at a cruiser 10km away, recalled it at 5 and got it back in structure....

/shrug. I'll say what I said before, it adds nothing to the gaming experience. About as much as an extra button you need to watch and if you dont click it within 3 seconds, you get a couple of hundred thousand isk fine. Reports of it adding depth/value to missions have been just as exaggerated as the death of the drone platform (so long as you ONLY use sentries....)

Dev alt is obvious.

Lost a sentry just the other day. Was at keyboard. Launched drones, insta-locked, blapped by about eight battleships at once. Gone in one. Happens to me on a regular basis. Drone durability = waste of SP.

Next up: All drone skills = waste of SP.

Actually looking forward to the day CCP removes drones from game entirely. Know they won't refund even a single SP but that's okay, I should be using a cookie-cutter Tengu like everyone else by then anyway.

hm. strange. I am not an expert but there are only a few really anti-drone missions where swapping in / out can be tricky or has to be done consistently , at least in the early rooms.

but I use a Navy Domi in Amarr space for missions and it worked very good. not as in AFK good / not automatic anymore but still works great if you notice when drones get aggroed / you lose aggro...
maybe thats the problem: you can tell when you get aggroed but not when your drones are ??
