Is there anyway to find a cloaked ship?

Pipedream, if you didnt see where the ship warped, and he was too stupid to change direction after cloaking. Eve is most certainly very 3d, if you have the sense to fly in abnormal directions.

Travel in EvE though is linear. Movement is scripted (if there isn't a bookmark/celestial/object to point to he's not going there). Any cat and mouse games is limited to where he can travel too. So if you deduce where he can travel too, finding him is easier. It's even easier if people live in a region and know the area well.

What the game needs is a destroyer class ship, with the ability to track or even try and pin down a signature of a cloaked ship. Like the old destroyer class ships going on a anti-sub patrol.

Apart from that, good luck trying to find one, unless you bump into it of course.Sad

this is something that defenetly needs balance. Almost everythings has been touche latelly including Black Ops and i do seriosuly believe it needs some minour adjustment.

But there are someways that I have learned over my time in eve. The problem is that they can only be done under a specific circubstances and these methods abuse of game mechanics, therefore ilegal

Yeah, I remember laughing my ass off in disbelief. I was running Stront to top off a tower and I had to go through a system that had a whole bunch of reds in it with bubbles on the gates. I warped to a gate observation bookmark and saw that it was bubbled and camped but figured I would still give it a go since I could manually pilot around the uncloaked manticore that was in the bubble. While I was clicking to avoid them, I realized that I was decloaked with a Rapier decloaked not even a couple dozen meters away from me. Either he serendipitously decloaked at just the right time or we bumped each other while cloaked. Either way, as soon as I noticed, I started going for the gate. I lived long enough to be just outside of jump activation range before I popped.

I still chuckle when I think about this.

Hey.. that does work... we decloaked a blackbrid that way once, while the gang was alilgning to a gate waiting for orders to jump...

Think of it as a blessing. It is a sign that you might get some PvP action which is why you are down in nullsec in the first place isn't it?

Two of the defining characteristics of a carebear are wanting other players to play the way the carebear wants and whining on the forums for the game to change when they don't. Yet I see more threads on these forums from gankers than I do miners whining about wanting the game changed to suit them.

there will be a new skill introduced to detect the cloaking field disruption, it will allow you to get within x=a,,ount of area per skill level. with buddies and drones you might be able to find a cloaker. good job ccp on making this happen

I have observed that the only way to find a cloaked ship is to go into the forums and pressure CCP to nerf cloaking or devise some way to find a ship that is cloaked.

So far it hasn't worked but there's always a new attempt in progress.

If he's in a safe spot the odds of you decloaking him are literally astronomical.

If a system is max 15 AU in size and everything is on the same plane then he's somewhere in an area of 1.6 * 10^19 square kilometers. Have fun getting to within 2 km of him. If the system is larger or stuff isn't all on the same plane then you have even less chance of finding him if he's safed up and cloaked.



He said the guy was there for 12 hours so its not like he needs to hurry in this search. He'll find the cloaker eventually.
