Every time you get podded...

I just dream about living in a WH some day....Suddenly was thinking on how difficult it is to find your way back to your home hole after being podded. I know this will be easier for the large WH corps and stuff but was wondering if some small WH fish could share some stories on how they were able to make it to their WH after being podded against all odds.

I imagine someone living alone or a small number of friends in a POS must have been unlucky that they also lost their scanner alts while looking for an entrance for their mains or maybe the WH closed on you.

Some interesting stories on how you made it back against all odds?

Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.

-Probe your exits consistently, know where they are - bookmark them on the outside - and subsequently where you need to go should you get podded.
-Have an alt in a probing frigate with basic probing skill inside and only use it if your main gets podded.

Just join a decent corp with at least having most members in wh-space. If you're going solo or with a few friends, you might have the unlucky business of being locked out and all your assets vanish in space for another lucky person if you're not back in time.

Most do hunt for such people to collect some isk...

Can't tell you how many towers we've knocked down with force fields off because the fuel ran out, because the corp got locked out of their own system.

The right answer is, you should have multiple characters in the wormhole that can scan. Preferably every main character on an account. (I admit, I don't have my PI slaves trained for it. But both of my mains are covops, high astro, sisters gear using.)

Pretty much everyone in your corp should have a scan alt on the inside. If you're in a very small corp, you probably also have a direct K-space static. Takes only a couple of minutes when you log in to make sure it's scanned down, the other side is bookmarked, and it will be around for a while. Your scan alt is also generally fairly safe, unless you unwittingly warp to the sig into a drag bubble or something. It should also only be used if you're stuck outside with no on-line corpies inside to do it.

I heard of a corp that lost their hole once. Every member was out scanning any time they were on, looking for their way back in. It took them almost a month to get back there.

Science and Trade Institute [STI] is an NPC entity and as such my views do not represent those of the entity or any of its members

Its worth training up any spare character slots you can to atleast a t1 scanning frig + proto cloak + basic scanning skills - doesn't take more than a few hours and then stick em in your WH just incase :D

If you have a static low , or (if your lucky) high, you can set up a clone in the nearest station with a cloning facility. Change clone location when ever the hole changes.

All i got is a really silly story of some corpmates getting locked out. It was kinda funny seeing as how one tengu was stuck inside and probes and launcher were in the pos but tengu pilot had no skills for scanning. -facepalm- But no luck finding it once again

I have a spare character slot on my acct, for a low monthly fee I will park it in your wh with a scan frigate to provide emergency probing.

True. There's always that danger. And that's why I have a dedicated prober, a back up, a back up for the backup and an auxiliary.
