Is there a point to constellations?

I'm just wondering if anyone has ever found a use for the 'constellations' in game. Everything I see ingame resolves around the regional level. Anyone found differently?

Tradition. I mean, what is the point of having constellations in real life? There really isn't a point outside of it was what people used to track stars thousands of years ago.

Besides, its space.

I like them.

I wished more people would use constellation chats.
Like ... remove local and push everybody into these.
Or whatever.

Use? Sure. I "use" the word to help describe a small grouping of solar systems.

Constellations used to be important for sovereignty.

Pretty sure agents usually send most mission runners to systems in the same constellation most of the time too (not all the time, but a high percentage are).

Constellation chat is the future local chat when local gets reduced to grid range and set into delayed.

Constellations in RL = useless in modern astronomy.
Constellations in nulsec = We'll give you this constellation
Constellation chat = Welcome to the Twilight Zone, beyond here strange things are known (+1s to people who get the song)
Constellations beyond that = useless. An annoying thing that gets in the way when you're trying to use some other function of the map.

I always had a favour for constellation chats ... i don't know why.
It always saddened me that there's no one in them.

Best time i had with them was when i moved to Sivala.
One day later, an incursion started ... so i had the incursion chat,
which is constellation wide, and had a lot of people to talk with. ^_^

they matter for COSMOS constellations in null as those are the only places to get specific booster gas and booster stuff
thats about it

They limit the scope of a wide array of PvE content — missions, COSMOS, incursions, and used to matter for exploration as well.

I think they are just sub divisions , New eden is split into regions ,which are split into constellations , which are split into systems , i woudn't look farther than that.

Instead of Systems, CCP could use Constellations in Sov. Warfare.

This is a good idea, replace local with this. Also, render more nebula skyboxes to the constellation level please. I know that this would need lots of hard drive space but it doesn't need to be compulsory.

Yeap, when constellation 'x' is in retrograde motion it implies that true love is around the corner, or that being more confident could lead to an important promotion. Derp.
