client not loading

I had to replace my bios chip on my desktop pc because the bios got corrupted to unstartable and now I, after i plugged in the new chip EVE isnt starting anymore. dont know if there is a connection, but probably doesnt hurt to mention it. anyway:

When I am starting EVE I get the small window saying INCARNA and showing the female standing in front of the Rifter-hull. Then I get a few loading sounds, but eventually the window just disappears and everything is quiet again, nothing loads.

any ideas what the problem could be?

See if clearing your cache and settings folders helps solve this.

Do note that copying the settings folder or any of it's files back may cause your problems to resurface, this includes the prefs.ini file.

clearing cache didnt fix anything. fresh eve install didnt fix anything, neither did a fresh windows install. this system ran eve fine before the bios got currupted and i had to put in a new bios chip. that is also the only thing changed as to before, when it ran eve without a problem.

Have you tried running any other games to see if those have any problems as well?

Also did you install the client from us or did you use the Steam client to install it?

thanks a lot for your effort, but the sollution was simple: the new bios chip ****** up my system clock and the date went to 2099, don't know how that prevented eve from starting, but resetting that fixed everything. =)

I am having an identical issue. I just got a used laptop, which I immediately formatted, so I know it is not a cache issue. The client is installed through STEAM. Whenever I launch EVE, it displays the startup screen, but once the startup screen disappears, nothing ever happens. In the task manager, EVE is not showing up in the applications tab, but "ExeFile.exe" with the description, "CCP ExeFile" is showing up in the processes tab.

I having tested the computer with Command and Conquer 3 (non-Steam install) and Team Fortress 2, both of which ran perfectly.

System Specs:
Satellite U305-S5127
Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 1.8Ghz x2
2GB RAM
Mobile Intel 965 Chipset, 358Mb onboard graphics.

It seems that the cause of this is that Steam doesn't complete the installation for some reason. You can solve this by navigating into the EVE Online installation folder, there open the bin folder and under that the DirectX folder. There double click on the DXSetup.exe file, wait for it to finish and then everything should run perfectly.

Well known issue with many game installers (on Steam and elsewhere) - sometimes DirectX or other required Microsoft installers that various games install (Visual C++ runtime, NET framework etc.) just silently fail to install for no good reason and if you didn't have up to date one already, game would probably bork out.

The issue is rare and shows up in practice even less often as most already have those installations up to date (so vast majority of game installations, those installers just exit as everything is up to date), but it's there... and I don't think Microsoft cares to fix their installers as the workaround ("retry installing manually DirectX and all other bundled installers") is so easy to do and fixes everything...

I am having the same problem as mentioned above. here is a full list of everything i have tried to no avail:

∞ repair tool
∞ uninstall/reinstall
∞ windows update
∞ ran CHKDISC
∞ tried to run in compatability mode
∞ tried to change the shortcut to ignore the cash files
∞ deleted the cach files

I have tried everything i mentioned, and everything above and failed horribly every time, i see the splash screen, followed by a black screen where i can see the ingame mouse and nothing afterwards, my clock is set right, and the only thing i did when it stopped working was to verify that my version of windows was valid.

EDIT: The game ran fine for me for months before this suddenly occured

Im afraid the problem is with your graphics card as is with most Intel graphics cards when playing EVE, and sadly we do not have a workaround for this. In some cases the following have shown some success in stopping problems with the Intel graphics card, but sadly not all:

1. Install the latest available graphics card driver from either www.intel.com or your manufacturers site website.
2. Start Eve in Safemode or set Shader Quality to Low.
3. Run the client in windowed mode (Alt+Enter can be used to switch to windowed mode when the client starts up for the first time)
4. Disable power saving features for the Intel Graphics Chipset.
5. Untick "Sun occluded by ships" in EVE's graphics settings.
6. Install a Windows patch from: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/KB961894/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2067
7. Update your DirectX from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3
8. start -> write: video -> start: view the name of video card -> Advanced settings -> Intel(R)... tab -> Graphic settings -> 3D -> Custom settings -> Texture quality: Performance, Anisotropic filtering: 16x, Vertex Processing: Enable software prosessing, Vertical Sync: On.

If none of the above suggestion help I'm afraid there's nothing we can do to solve this issue for you.

Same here. Running the DXSetup.exe file did the trick. Just downloaded the client through Steam on a clean install of Win7 x64 Pro, and as you stated the process must not have completed. Works correctly now. Thanks a mil for that information. Big smile
