Drones warp with you.

Just an idea, having drones follow you once deployed if you warp off. The code is already there for warping fighters, but apply it to all drones (maybe not sentries? I donno). Not that they would follow someone else into warp and attack ala fighters, but just if YOU warp off, they come with and orbit so you don't loose them. They could still be destroyed as per normal, but, less chance of just tossing em out when you warp off randomly.

I'm against space litter, and drones often end up just that.

Add in a delay maybe, with a skill to speed up drone warp latency? I donno, just a thought.

Bind a button to have them return & orbit & another button to scoop. Problem solved with out having to implement new code.

I would just endorse in universe of so advanced technology an option which can be enabled in drone menu "Recall drones on warp drive activation" and problem solved, if there is any reason you want to leave your drones behind, then untick the box, otherwise tick the box and drones get recalled if ship starts powering warp drive.

Or you could just use "return to drone bay", which I believe is shift-r by default...

Aside from Larger fighter drones, and fighter-bomber drones, regular drones don't have built in warp drives. I can only imagine the amount of retooling and construction design changing that the companies that designed the drones would have to undergo, just to accomodate a few players who can't hotkey "return all drones"

Do want T3 drones! (seriously)
No, really, T3 drones gonna be fun!

Shift R doesn't always return in time, jesus. Not all warp outs are planned ahead of time, and what purpose does having the drones lost and needing to be rescooped/connected to when you come back solve?

The isk aspect is incorrect as the drones are already made, buying more drones just transfers isk from you to the builder, not out of the game. Likewise losing a ship doesn't remove isk from the game.

I agree in that, drone boats have it hard enough when used in emergency pvp. how it is now, you warp, hit grid, wait for drones to appear, target enemy, then wait 3 seconds for them to get to the enemy to apply DPS. having them follow you in warp would allow you to already have them out the second you hit grid, they can engage the guys shooting you, saving you the precious few seconds that can sometimes determine a fight.

it wouldnt do much, but save you 2-3 seconds trying to apply DPS with a ship already gimpy in pvp.

though i would settle for them just coming back to the drone bay once you initiate warp would be nice for miners who just so bored from the repitition of mining they forget a step or two.

why hasnt this been made already? or somthing that lets you go get them. already lost 500,000,000 isk worth of drones on a mission so i couldnt go recover them -__- for a big game that cost 15 a month thats a big fatal flaw FFS

The only counter argument I could see is people complaining that you could warp in with sentries primed and ready, but, you still have to lock the person and press your special drones fire hotkey setup, since there isn't a module button for them. I think it is pretty silly that in addition to being simply destroyed, you can warp off without them as well.

Or you could just make them automatically return if your ship gets warped by somebody else, for example FC warping fleet returns drones, which is the main reasoning behind my suggestion before.

I do agree they shoudn't warp with you, but they should return in drone bay if they detect ship is entering warp, now there are few things:
* they don't stop ship from warping, if they make it in time they get in, otherwise if they don't they get left behind obviously
* maybe only do this if somebody else made you ship warp (like fleet warp or as it already is DC).

I wouldn't mind special drones manufactured with warp drives, however the current drones to me don't seem large enough to warrant them having warp drives. Especially ones capable of keeping up with the larger ships with proper engines.

But alas, at the same time it wouldn't be a fantastic idea simply because it would remove the unique nature of carriers fighters being remotely assigned and warping to their new controller.

It wont let me have an empty signature...

That would still be unique, the only thing this changes is that if you warp your own ship, they will warp with you...they won't warp to anyone else. Call it a drone leash.

Having seen the arguments here I'm all in favour of the OP requirement for the following reason:

Only a drone-boat loses its main source of DPS when engaging emergency warp. This simple feature would remove the disparity. It's hardly game-changing, so I can't see any reason to object, other than one more opportunity for those in the know to smug it up.
