Re-location of assets

As above, i have just upgraded to full account and am in a corp who's home is 12 jumps away from the caldari start point, i have aquired a few ships via the missions and some other bits and bobs. Rather than leave them all behind what would be the best way of transporting it all to the home area of my corp? what i have is probably worthless to a hardened player, however i'd like to keep it all for now till i understand the game abit more.
Also how to you make a corp hangar? i was thinking or creating an alternative character, creating a corp and using hanagr space, is this possible, bit like a bank alt feature that players do in wow.

Corp hangers are created by people with Corp roles (rent office, I think)

As for moving it all, you'll need an industrial. Transport everything you can repackage over. Then use shuttles or newbie ships (leave your active ship to be in your pod. undock. Dock somewhere else in system. bamm, new ship.) Fly back. Transfer into a ship that you can't carry in your indy. fly back. repeat. trash the newbie ships, or take your indy to get the shuttles.

Or hire someone else to do it. If you have the money, Red Frog freight have a good rep.

thanks for the advice, i have a badger to haul abit of stuff, what is the best ship a haulier could have at his disposal?

All depends on skills, my mammoth will do 35,000m3 with a few cargo expanders. If you are dedicated to freighting services you could get a freighter (my fenrir will do over 700,000m3 if memory serves). Failing that you're stuck with making several trips or making a courier contract. Make a rough estimate of the value of all the goods and set that as the collateral.

If you're nearby and go with the contract idea send me an eve-mail, if we're close i'll do it for free with some extra freight cargo room.

Basic movement of stuff is done with Industrials. I recommend an Amarr Bestower, because in 12 hours or less you can be in the largest low-skill industrial. They can haul most packaged frigates and cruisers.

Freighters are the big brothers of Industrials, and are expensive. The general rule is to not buy a freighter unless you know you really need one. Like Industrials, Freighters cannot haul rigged ships unless they are packaged in a courier contract (use an alt to make a contract). My Charon hauls 942,000 m3.

Deep Space Transports (DST) and covert Blockade Runners (BR) are tech 2 Industrials. DST are fairly large and very sturdy, but very slow, slower than a freighter. Blockade Runners are fast and agile like a frigate, and a joy to own, but are smaller than an Industrial (my Cranes haul 10,214 m3), but can warp cloaked (great for taking shortcuts through lowsec).

The Orca is a handy hisec hauler, as it can carry a good amount of cargo plus has a ship maintenance array that can carry rigged ships.

Lastly there are jumpfreighters. They are about 1/3 the capacity of a freighter, have a jump drive so they can move vast distances, and cost about 5-6 billion Shocked but they are invaluable for moving stuff to / from nulsec or lowsec.

When I first started playing I had this idea that I had to take all my stuff with me whenever I relocated my home. But this really isn't necessary. I assume at this stage that you are based in high sec and you are mainly carebearing, not PvP.

All that junk that you have been collecting from your missions - reprocess it, certainly everything from Meta 3 down. Don't worry about the fact that you haven't got perfect refine skills, just make sure the base reprocessing yield of the NPC station is 50% (some are as low as 30%). Sell the minerals on the markets at the same station using sell orders. Sell or reprocess the T1 ships you leave behind, certainly cruiser down and the basic haulers you get from the tutorials. There are exceptions, but most of the time you will get more for the minerals than the ships and modules, but the big plus is that you only need 8 sell orders for the minerals.

So all you need to do is make about 3 trips. Take your main missioning ship, then come back for the salvaging ship, then the biggest hauler. Shoving the gear that you want to keep into the holds. Buy whatever else you need in the new local market. For the two trips going back, there isn't really much danger for your pod (in high sec), just undock it, go to the nearest station where you don't have a ship, accept the free noob ship and make the trip back on that, trashing it at the end of the trip. If your new corporation is at war, don't do any of this. Leave your gear where it is until the war is over or accept the offer of help from the neutral hauler above.

That will probably leave a few ships and items left over that you are too attached to sell or reprocess and think might be useful in the future. It doesn't hurt to leave them behind and occassions will arise where you will be passing close in a pod and they will be a lifesaver. Leave them fitted, for that reason.

The Eve UI isn't particularly friendly for viewing your assets remotely. If you use containers to sort your gear, unload those containers, repackage everything and stack them. Assembled ships:- empty the cargoholds and dronebays, rename the ships with an underscore prefix and then the shiptype eg _Rifter, _Stabber, so they are all grouped together at the top. In a few months time you will be bound to be searching for a specific item or ship and cursing if you don't do this.

number of options as mentioned.

#1 Lots of trips
Do not do this it is a waste of time for you.

#2 Leave it behind.
Can always grab it later, or trash it if you like

#3 sell everything that does not fit in your best ship.
This is one of the better options. Reprocess and sell or just sell to the market. Pack your best ship with cargo expanders and the mods you are using and those you may use. The isk you make selling will buy anything you sell by mistake and find yourslef needing later.

#4 Train a hauler
Best option as you should have a hauler anyways for self suffeciency. I like the mimnitar one but all are good choices.

#5 get someone else to do it.
If your just starting chances are your stuff is not worth moving, this also does nto help you gain self suffeciency.


Summary.
Get the industrial skill and grab a hauler...pack it up and sell what does not fit. Be aware a rigged ship won't fit in a hauler. I am also assuming up to now you do not have any huge ships.

I actually enjoyed my first move. It gave me a chance to practice flying and gave me a real mind map of the area. I learned about unfitting, repackageing, shuttles, cargo capacities, among other things. Thanks for the pod idea, old news to you guys, but a revelation to me.
