Is there a ship that can fly in high sec that is designed to transport other ships that have been assembled?

Thanks.

If the ship isn't too big.. use an Orca

If they are assembled use the contract system and a freighter. If they need to go to low sec, get some friends to guard your freighter.

Would you please stick to practicing scanning?

The Orca's ship hangar can hold assembled ships up to battlecruiser size (but it only has room for one battlecruiser). Assembled battleships can only be shipped in hisec via freighter by using a courier contract.

I thought the orca can only carry industrial ships?

That's the Rorqual you're thinking of there.

That would be it's bigger brother -- the Rorqual.

Being that the Orca can hold any type of ship that can fit in it & the Rorqual can only hold industrial/mining ships.

I think this is so wrong & needs to be changed. It is kind of a discrimination by CCP.

Either allow the Rorqual to carry any ship(s) that can fit in its bay or just allow the Orca to hold only industrials/mining ships.

Bear in mind that a regular carrier can go anywhere a Rorqual can go, if you need non-industrial ships backing up the Rorqual's operations. There's no equivalent "jeep carrier" to complement the Orca in hisec.

I'd pay good organs (not mine, some Amarr guy's) to get a mid-range hauler that can transport fitted ships. The Orca's a jack of all trades, but that means there's a whole lot of things to train for that I have no interest in (Mining Foreman, director, etc) in order to fly it. My Mammoth maxes around 30K m3, and a Fenrir is 1.5 billion for 720K m3 (up to 900K). Where's my battleship+ sized hauler in the middle? Clone out the Orca's 400K maintenance bay and 30K cargo bay. I'd buy that for 400-500 mill in a heartbeat.

it has a 50k bay actually when you fit cargo expanders, 92k if you fit t1 rigs on it and 100k if you fit t2 rigs. it also has a 40k fleet hangar that you can use(even if you dont have corp roles), this brings its total to 130k m3 space you can use probably a bit less than that since not everyone has industrial command ship at lvl5

also has an ore hold bay of 50km3 and a ship bay of 400km3

it can haul pretty massive amount of cargo.
and i love it for wormholes.

its training time is not that horrible(41 days for a character with none of the skills and +3 in) altough the stuff that you need to train it is useless for anything but rorqual training.

And it'll be easier to get into soon - the skill changes that should be dropping with Odyssey will switch the Mining Barge V requirement to ORE Industrial III. You'll still need Mining Foreman V (for Mining Director I), but that's a rank-2 skill, no more than ten days. According to the dev blog, training for the Orca will drop from 49 days base to 17.

Fit it right, and it'll travel long distances nearly as quickly as a battleship, carrying cargos that would never fit in any industrial transport, with enough defenses to weather all but the worst gankers.

Oh yes, I'm not faulting the Orca. It's a fine ship, and can do just about anything you ask of it. But as you say, it sends the user down a fairly limited use training path. I'd just like to see a dedicated hauler in between the Industrials and Freighters that doesn't require all the extra bits.

That I had entirely forgotten. Guess I need to reread that dev blog. Could make it a sight more palatable from a training standpoint.

You can. You'll just be using your Battle Skiff to tackle.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Only if they add a ship that can carry assembled/rigged ships. Freighters are expensive, slow as hell and you have to use courier contracts. Orca is a near perfect platform for hauling smaller ships. Whether industrial or combat ships.

I think they should just leave the orca as is.

Thanks for that.

I figured Orca was the only ship capable of fulfilling my needs.

I'm 6 days away from having it all trained up.

It would be nice just to have a ship transporter though, especially if you wanted to move an entire fleet in one hit.

Orca should fit my needs for now though.
