30% was always a bit over the top, this is indeed a case where the issue was the module. Hardest hit will be ships that relied on tracking enhancers that didn't already have a range bonus. Falloff bonused ships will be a little sad, but they'll be fine.

Gallante glass cannon blasterboats will be the hardest hit. Blasters barely reach now, and won't reach post nerf. They don't have the mids either. Moving TEs to scripted TCs would mean armor tanking and the horrible horrible slowness. They're screwed.Cry

Winmatar can still win or gtfo. They still kite you forever, except now with lower dps for a slower death.Lol

CCP could have nerfed Winmatar speed, thereby balancing it. Instead, we got this.Roll

So now medium railguns have even less range.

Considering they can't track anything within optimal range anyway, they really needed that extra falloff.

For the love of GOD why can't CCP buff things that don't work instead of nerfing what does.

So we will all still be in our drakes with their nerfed heavy missles because they still have more range than everything else.

Good to see CCP still flailing about aimlessly with no plan.

That is exactly what they are NOT doing. Just because you can't see the plan doesn't mean that there isn't one.

But he makes a valid point prior to his ending asumption.

Unless TDs get tweaked, which I have heard zero about happening.. and with the likely cruise buff coming with the TE adjustment.. the potential to just be missile fleets, and only missile fleets is a very real possibility. Is that really their plan?

In a lot of people's minds, we would be going through the laser age, to proj, to hybrid, and now I suppose the missle age. Now, I personally don't agree with that following over the years.. but it does hold a parsel of truth. My question to CCP is.. is that in any way fueling their decision making.. and how much do they really play all fronts, from fleet to gang to skirms to 1v1-1v2+ to wh to missions to anoms. Not going to make all sectors happy.. but a choice that pretty much punches all of them in the face, is a rather odd 'plan-path' to be taking.

Another thing to consider.. is this a stealth armor buff/shield nerf? If TCs become superior and more prevelent.. knock out need for a low and make use of mids for turret enhancement. Rather odd to dump a bigger load on mid-needs with a turret enhancement, when it already has prop, ewar, cap to hold. Lows having turret dmg enhancement and speed enhancements mostly for the average combat pilot. I find that plan.. a bit hampering to turret-mount shield tanks.

I personally don't care.. my combat orientated toons are at a point that I can field w/e gun n tank style, I'll adjust easily. But that doesn't mean I have to believe this particular decision, coupled with future/past mechanic changes weighing on this to be a good one.

I honestly fear the result this is going to have on arty/laser fleets and null ammo.. WAY over the effects on AC-kite boats.

I don't believe that he does in fact make a valid point. It's pretty rare that someone legitimately complains that railguns dont' have enough range. Enough damage? Sure... range? No.

CCP is most like blind chicken hit grain, but missed again, i ask only one question for CCP, did u notice u have less and less old players, some accounts maybee is still active but ppl stop playing

... this games go in wrong direction and what they do with game in last year is disaster, failed re-balance

BTW. plz more rookie shiny textures at last u will get in some time ppl who can fly only that on trial accounts for 14 days, make look and lose old unique eve sense

Amusingly, CCP has actual numbers regarding player retention. They don't have to judge how the numbers feel or attempt to extrapolate them from the limited perspective of one single player.

I agree. Infact.. I can see rails coming out from this on the better end, indirectly. Altho.. not quite to the same extent to what is going to happen to medium and small scorch platforms. As if Omens weren't sexy enough already...

My point was towards his 'drake' comment.. and it is a legitament one for a fleet pilot to make.

as long as a caracal can project 350dps to 45km, i do not see medium rails coming out anywhere.

Some would say "it's about time". Very strange. This change should have happened awhile back. I argued for it ALOT. Even though I really like Minmtar ships and skirmishing tactics.

HOWEVER, I knew it would put Minmatar ships back inline with Gallente ships.

Hmm. I've been going over what ships this would effect that I fly. Talos, Tornado, Cynabal (but i dont fly it much), Vagabond (but i dont fly it much), Vigilant (shield), Sliepnir AND Vindicater (shield). ****! This may even hurt some shield-laser-ships or ships like the Slicer and Coercer.

All, this means is I'll have to fly alot more Amarr and Caldari. Well, more of the former than the later. Hahaha. Not really...

Anyway.

I believe this change should have been done a long time ago and I welcome it. It may prove to be a profound change. However, I'll still choose missiles over lasers and autocannons solo.

EDIT: Talos stays p much the same. The Hurricane is getting owned though. Unless your into tripple tracking enhancers. Amussing.

Instant.

You should probably read other things I have said prior to that.. and also understand I was speaking towards the turret platforms with that statement. Perhaps I should have been more clear in the line.

And if by 350dps 45km caracal.. u mean no tank in rigs, no point/scram/tackle, target must be stationary 350dps 45km caracal, gotcha. I mean.. god forbid they start moving web/scramless, or something.. so much for 350 dps. I like imaginary results too.. but that's what dreams are for, ya know? If you wish to insert 'caracal has tackle support'.. keep in mind the same could be said for everything else as well.

Just to throw this out there.. RAHs suck, right? Give'em a try vs missiles..

TEs now add 33% less optimal and 33% less falloff for all guns.

I see rails coming out the rear end of this, directly.Lol

Medium rails go on vexors, vexors do a lot more than 350 dps @ 45km. ie "balancing" medium rails is not a trivial task.

Yes, for all guns.. that equip TEs.

Rough example.. take a cynabal with 425s + 2x gyro 1x TE vs vigi with 250s + 2x mag 1x TE.

Pre-nerf.. the dps curve in the kiting zone (which I equate to 15km-21km.. above OH web range, before T2 point range plus pilot 'error' buffer sandwiching each).. you are going to hovor in the 335-290 dps range with a cynabal. In the vigi you are going to be at 440 dps flat throughout.

Post-nerf to TE.. the dps curve for the cynabal changes to 315-275 dps range with a cynabal. In the vigi you are going to be at 440 dps flat throughout, again.

Now.. feel free to make your arguement that revolves around the ships, rather than the weapon platforms performance abilities. The latter actually being the discussion, mind you.

The 250 rail could also just completely dump the TE for a third mag.. both still using 3 lows for turret enhancement.. and put up 500-485 in the kite zone.

If you wish to bring up tracking.. feel free. I'll say, learn how to pilot effectively rather than easily.

With Hybrid ammo types, range and dps are closely related. Surely you know this.

With a medium railgun platform loaded with ammo that can do enough dps to be competitive with other weapon platforms, they have too little RANGE. They need a range boost to their high dps ammo in order to be competitive.

Nerfing tracking enhancers takes medium hybrids in the opposite direction.

I disagree the problem is DPS, because anitmatter does decent DPS. Boosting it further might make it unbalanced. You just need to project that DPS further.

Do you really disagree with this?

By "fine" you mean as screwed as before. Lol@ slowboat with rails. Good luck with that. Nice going there, 2 to 1 with a "brawler bud." The kiter will pop your brawler bud then warp off to repair, then come back to pop you.
