Will freighters be given reimbursment with Odyssey?

And look at the two pre-reqs to fly the ship listed in your picture.

Before: Freighter I, Adv Spaceship I
After: Freighter I, Adv Spaceship I

The pre-reqs nested below those skills are not required to fly the ship. They're just required to inject those skills.



Yup the skill requirements for the ship itself aren't changing at all.

After the patch you will need Adv Spaceship Command to train the freighter skill, NOT THE SHIP, THE SKILL

you do NOT need advanced spaceship command at 5 to fly a freighter after the patch

You only need Advanced spaceship command 1 and freighters 1, if you already have these skills trained before the patch then the change is completely superfluous to you.

This goes for any other skill changes too.

Another example of this is the command ships skill after the patch. Anyone who can already fly a command ship doesn't care.

After the expansion, should you try to board a Freighter without Advanced Spaceship Command V, your character will automatically biomass in shame.

To anyone that comes along later and wonders "Why does this even work like this int he first place?!"

It's because of SP loss from bad clones.

Say you are able to fly the carrier archon. According to this the archon needs Amarr battleship 5 and Drone interfacing 5 for the carrier skill.

However the only skills that the carrier itself need are Capital Ships I, Amarr Carrier I, and Jump Drive Operation I.

If you were to get podded today and lose Amarr Battleship 5 you will still be able to fly an archon just fine because the lack of Amarr Battleship 5 doesn't magically stop the Carrier skill from working.

However you would lose the ability to fly a Redeemer because the ship itself specifically requires that skill to level 5.

For anyone wondering why CCP would set up a system like this protect players who forgot to update their clones: I don't believe they did.

IIRC SP-Saving Medical clones did not always exist.

You've been told 3 times now.

You need freighter 1 to FLY a Freighter. If you have Freighter 1, you can continue to fly your freighter after the change.

ASC 5 will not be needed to FLY a freighter after the change, only to STATRT THE SKILL of Freighter 1

Since you already have the skill, you will not be affected. It will only be an issue for you if you somehow managed to lose your freighter skill and needed to re-inject it.



PS However ASC improves your freighter's time to warp; I advise training it up anyway.
