This is exactly the reason.

But strangely in eve, besides this acco with all female chars, i do have my main account with all male chars.

I've always used almost exclusively girl characters. goes back to Pre-CU SWG. girl i knew from the school i attended got me to play it, she had already played it since beta and had a fairly large "No Boys Allowed" Guild (and had everyone in comms of one form or another, so they were actual girls funny rnough). she always mades guilds like that in all her games, even ones she didnt do too well at.

anyways, i really liked hanging out with her, and she liked playing with someone who was actually competent unlike all the other non-gamers from our school, so she said i could join... if i had a female character.

during and post-SWG playing (quit a while after NGE ruined it), we played other games, i think the grand total of games we played together (all MMO's) came out to around 100 something, over about 5 years (the msot games we played at one time was about 30). in all those games i made a female toon to roll with her and whatever silly group she inevitably made.

so girl toons/characters just became a habit. (i guess for most of my childhood and teenage years, being considered "one of the girls" [in contrast to a girl being "one of the guys"] didnt help much either).

I’ve often wondered and can’t find any thread on this.

Trolls & flames welcome as always. But some thoughts appreciated as well.

So why did you pick a female character?

What real life dude doesn't want to be a white haired white chick in space? I should start a corp named "black guys with white girl avatars", i know I wouldn't be the only member lol.

This character was made when the racial choices determined your attributes (and there was no remap possible), and this was the one with the lowest CHA. However male characters looked utterly silly so I made her female.

On my other account I alternated between male and female while trying out the background stories and starter missions of the various races. I rather randomly ended up with a female toon.

New alts made since Incarna are even more random, mainly guided by the clothes selection available for the race I chose.

The part about Carriers at the start made me laugh so hard I got tears in my eyes. That was 8 years ago and it's still true.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

No. 1 Rule of the Internet : There are no women on the internet Big smile

I always look at it this why, can't remember where I first heard this:

The Internet, Where the Men are Men, The Women are Men, and the Kids are the FBI Pirate

My main was/is a male, and this used to be just a hauler alt, which developed into a pvp alt, which developed into the only character I play anymore.

I tend to create a male main, but then creating new characters I may choose females simply because its easier to make them look cooler or more interesting. Males tend to be lacking in the style department (and definitely in regards of clothes) in most MMOs character creators..

Playing a female character doesn't bother me since I don't think of it as me or my avatar really.. I feel detached from it.

In Wow every kid has a female character, so if they can't get laid, at least they can see some shaking azz on their screen. Many of them use the virtual female character to ... feel good when they are home alone. Sad but true, I had meet even married people how did the same. Or homosexuals who pretend to be a chick for obvious reasons. No idea why to use a female avatar in EVE where all you can see is dots in space, or eventually your Domi big mama azz. Or who knows.. maybe some people use the avatar editor more than once... when they are home alone.

Actually I think most of those players are just people inside the closet yet afraid to show their true nature in real life and thus show it on a game, I personally did model my character after myself in real life, although way older.

Nah.

Wasn't that one of those stupid rules, repost of a repost of a repost... or something like that. Only heard it from a friend who had a friend, since I always avoided 4chan like the pox.

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

lol this. Ive always seen the "its nicer to stare at" excuse a billion times over and always laugh. Just admit it, you wish you were a female. The truth is, even in a game like wow your never really staring at your character.
