On the MD channel of the old forums, images played an important role illustrating topics of discussion without being abused. The new forum s/w doesn't seem to allow them and I think this section if poor for this.

It's a side effect of the site going to https (Which is a good thing. http for anything that's authenticated is a bad idea).

What might work, is the ability to link https hosted images. I think that gets round the main issue. The 'This Page Contains Both Secure and Non-Secure Items' error popping up.
