The chances of getting free stuff from other players are increased by ~0.01%.

Pro Tip: Let them have small breasts. This hides your real gender even better.

My main is male. Female alt is a change of pace. It really doesn't make any difference except being slightly more fun to customize in character creator.

So it's a B@@B thing. I should have guessed.

More like how it's near impossible to make a male character that actually looks like a badass.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

I like how your portrait emphasises that you are a submissive woman begging for something ^ :)

I like to look at women.

Also back in the days of Ultima Online it was easy to get free stuff with female toon.

People give you free stuff when you pretend to be a girl.

Would you rather stare at a pretty lady's face all day? Or an ugly mug like mine?

Also in other mmo's you really like to stare at a guy's ass when he runs around while your playing the game?

And I guess the thunderboobs never get boring either eh?

It's more of a sliding scale where on one side you have respect but responsibility and on the other side you have freedom but no confidence.

Females are less threatening to the alpha males which affords them more breathing room. Some mistake this for an advantage but females are also treated as less stable and less reliable.

As a woman the advantages are very short term. The extra breathing room you are afforded is useful when you're new to a community but you are seen as naturally less stable and capable than men so there's a tendency for the men to coddle and protect you which makes it harder to grow and advance in a community so you have to work extra hard to earn the true respect.

At the same time the ever present hunt for the true females and the witch hunt for the "fake" ones endanger your gender identity further because showing any sort of personal fortitude, strength or independence will have people pounce on you and accuse you of being male. On top of that you can't really counter that by throwing your sex around at every corner because then you undermine your position further by looking like you want to draw attention to the fact that you are a woman when all you really want people to notice is what you're capable of.

So as a woman you're left to choose between being a giggling, smiley spamming moron. Having a posse of drooling idiots follow you around, making sexual innuendos at every turn.

or throwing away your gender identity and turning into Hillary Clinton in hopes of a chance to earn some respect based on your own merits and capabilities.

If there's some sort of middleground then I have yet to find it but it depends mainly on the people around you.

Being a woman is in no way a free ride nor does it afford you unwarranted benefits. You merely pay for short term rewards with your long term dignity. If you choose to sell it that is.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

I like attractive women. I don't role-play a female. I don't want to BE a female. I just feel the need to create characters that make me say "Yeah.. I'd hit that" Does that say some psychobabble thing about my inner self? I don't know. I don't really care either. Alexis is sexy. I'd lick her bum eye. bwahah. Blink

It never even crossed my mind to pick a girl.

There's got to be some Freudian subtextual explanation for that.

Theories???

The longer and the more games I play, the more the Male:Female character ratio approaches equilibrium.

I attribute much of it to just plain getting bored. I have ADHD when it comes to trying to stick to a character. I end up maxing out character slots in a fairly short order. Making some of them female helps differentiate them from each other. Making Ork3 with slightly different skin tone doesn't exactly convey a different character, especially in a game where you actually look at the model.

Strangely I agree with much of the sentiments in this thread. The female characters I have are not just alts, but also the alts with lowest skill points.

I created my accounts the first day the game was available and grabbed the name MuadDib (would've grabbed Muad'Dib but back then the rules said no punctuation).

After that it only seemed natural to get "Chani" as well.

One thing lead to another and now she is my main alt.

Why did you pick a white male character with cornrows and a goatee?

Why do people think of gender differently than other attributes?
