Honestly everyone saw this coming, people have been complaining about TEs and Minmatar kiting for a while. I feel like Minmatar keep getting the short end of the stick with the rebalancing though, they might end up the new Gallente :)

Having said that I feel that this may just take minnies down to much of a peg. I don't follow the crowd in thinking that minnie are doomed with the recent rebalances of the ship classes but they are just in balance with the others.
Where this may (I say may cos I don't have the meta knowledge) actually stop them from having much of any advantage now. There weapons will have even worse damage application than they do now.

But hey I'll wait and see how it pans out. TBH it will probably make me fly more minnie stuff as I love flying the 'crap' stuff and seeing if I can still kill ****!

Winmatar is still fast, your armor is still slow. Their falloff still reaches, just at lower dps. This merely means slower death for you.Lol

TE nerf is the wrong fix that will solve nothing, it's speed that needs nerf, not range.

Changing out the T2 for T1's in EFT shows you the eventual end result of this change.

Not too bad, not great of course, but judging from the forums you'd think it's the end of all...

Whats wrong with the speed?

If speed got a nerf then that would be a killing blow to minnie ships as it is pretty much there only real advantage over the other races. even more so now.

Maybe someone can help me wrap my head around this rather bland, half-ass adjustment. They should revise Barrage (and probably Scorch).. rather than blindsiding arty, large lasers, and null-ammo. Maybe my foresight is a bit off here.. but look to what I said first..

Nerfs in games tend to equate to something getting buffed indirectly. Sometimes, I think that's their intentions when they can't come up with something better themselves.. or a tweak isn't strong enough, in their eyes. Me thinks some of my toons need a bit more missile SP.

This probably indeed has something to do with armour vs shield headbutting, and more than with minnie/projectile/whatever at that. This may work for some of environements, but we'll see where it will bring us.

Basically this takes your old falloff value to 12/13ths of it's current value (assuming 1 TE).

A 7.7% reduction isn't the end of the world. It's barely enough to make a perceptible difference.

Had range mattered, Caldari would've been king of the hill the whole time. It was never about range, past a practical limit.

Speed = gtfo free if you can't kill it. It's always been the one thing that mattered in Eve. When nano age ended, guess what took over? Oh right, the next fastest thing.

If anything, Minnie falloff should be increased, but speed decreased to below other boats. Then it would be a mental calculation on whether you can peel off enough hp before the enemy catches you, a timing/dps race, which is where balance becomes possible. When you can kite forever while gtfo at any time, balance is not possible.

Thanks, that simplified the hell out of the argument for me. That drops my Mach's falloff with 800's from 69km to 56km. That's... ouch. Shrinks the window for killing ewar as they burn in. Ugh.

Good thing I didn't spring for Domination TE's.

Yeah, looks like the Mach could lose about 13km off 50% falloff. But wouldn't Barrage L's 50% falloff point be about 75km with two of the nerfed TE's?

Are they touching TC's with this change? It always seemed odd to me that TC's were worse than TE and they took capacitor on top of it.

Guess this is an indirect buff to missile boats and hulls that have built in range mods.

With two nerfed TE's, EFT says Barrage drops from 7.8K/89K to 7.2K/76K

30% was always a bit over the top, this is indeed a case where the issue was the module. Hardest hit will be ships that relied on tracking enhancers that didn't already have a range bonus. Falloff bonused ships will be a little sad, but they'll be fine.
