Will training Galente Cruiser LVL3 now allow me to 'exploit' the upcoming BC skill changes?

No, they won't.

Why? Because you want more skills to train later?

No because I am never going to fly a battlecruiser.

So instead of spending 35 days on a skill I'm not going to use. I will instead spend those 35 days on skills I am going to use.

Seems like a good plan and it helps keep my clone prices down.

The voices say that you will train it, because eventually you'll want to fly them....Cool

Well if your advice is to train for a month into something that I have no interest in just because I "might" change my mind one day then I have a few million SP worth of planet management skills that I need to introduce you too. Might change your mind one day after all.

Plan:

Tackler frigate
T1 Logistics(now)
Tackler Cruiser (23 days left)
T2 Logistics (about 138 days left)
Carrier (about 360 days left)
Master the Carrier 2-3 years or so maybe.

In between that I might also learn blockade running and covert ops scanning for sites.

I'd read the Devblog. You will need to train (racial) battlecruiser in order to get into carriers. Unless you quickly get into one now before the changes.

I have read it. I have no problem with doing Amarr battle cruiser 3 on the way to the Carrier.

Personally, I can´t wait for the tears from the guys who

  • STILL will be caught completely by surprise by those changes, more than a year after they were first announced, and those that

  • forgot to update their clones.

Uh, that's not exploitative at all, because that's exactly what you get now if you train the skill. You're not getting anything new.

I think the reason he's asking is because, IIRC, the level requirement for cruisers is going down from 4 to 3. So if you only train cruisers to 3, you CAN'T fly the battlecruisers now, but you would, supposedly, be able to fly them then.

I'm talking about the gaining of an entire LVL 5 and all the corresponding SP that will bring - I assume it isn't going to count as a '0 SP' skill if you qualify for it when the changes come around?

EDIT: In fact, in my case 3 LVL 5 skills.

Yeah, assuming you get the full "reimbursement" you get 6,144,000 SP, but so what? You're not getting anything that you didn't already have before, technically. The only real difference is that you won't have to retrain skills to fly the ships you currently can, and your clone might cost more than it does now.

I'm getting SP that people who later start the game won't - they will have to train them like we did. Assuming the skills will still have the same multiplier, we're talking 20-25 days to train it depending on implants - PER LVL 5. Three of them.

I haven't read the blog in detail, it may be the case that the skills will actually have a lower multiplier and as such are quicker to train?

I think you are overthinking this.

You are definitely overthinking this. All of those extra SP don't allow you to do anything you couldn't already do.

Read this dev blog

People who are new to the game will have to train each of them individually, this is true, but there are many other things that are changing to make things easier for newer players as well.

For instance, new characters will only have to train to 3 to move on to the next ship type instead of training to level 4 in a ship type they are not interested in. Also, All tech 2 ships requiring skill training conditions from other tech 2 ships will be cut. This will make it easier for new pilots to get into some T2 ships.

I had a hard time making myself train galente cruiser skill because most galente ships look like butt. I finally caved because the myrm looks neat.

I have a frigate/destroyer pilot who's not going to be training battle cruisers though. If he ever maxes out frigates/destroyers he's getting moved to another account and I'm closing that one.

How can it be an exploit if CCP has been encouraging everyone for some time to train up these skills in order to gain from the policy?

When they first mentioned "if you can fly it now, you'll be able to fly it then" they said everyone should train up now to get free SPs.

Why are you questioning it?!? They're handing out level 5 skills!

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com
