V all round here.

Im guessing new skills.

I wonder if they are going to completely ditch the probe system?

Perhaps the current system will remain for combat scanner probes and a simpler system for exploration sites.

Should wait for more details before making speculations.

I hope it is in addition to the current scanning. Maybe a new launcher and probes that finds sites completely different from current exploration, and maybe even just outside the system, as opposed to near planets. More "deep space" like.

Gotta be surely. They wouldnt make the 10 yr anniversary expansion, a slight tweak to the scanning mechanic. Surely.

I'm hoping for something new on the scale of wormholes.

A new gold rush!!!

I really hope they leave the current system and add this as something new.
The current system is a perfect balance of difficulty and works extremely well.
Dumbing it down any further would be a very poor choice IMO.

Agreed. My reaction to the announcment was instantly: "why change the least broken mechanic in the game?"

Its not that its too easy or too hard, it's that it is almost as boring as mining, and what you find is usually just as boring.

Well there's the problem right there! They have sequence of script priorities set up all wrong. UnsubSCRIPTION is also spelled wrong. Man, what slackers. Good thing the expansion is 9 weeks away.

Launching Magic Crystal Balls and arranging them in a arcane patter with the star as a center will yield the best scanning results, even beyond the horizon of temporal uncertainty.

Finally someone who actually knows about scanning ^ Instead of most the people preaching to us that scanning is broken and 4 probes are all you really need.

I enjoy the mechanics and challenge of site and combat scanning in their current forms. Totally agree that they do not need a dumbing down.
