So I understand Tengus utilizing hybrid weaponry, especially railguns are somewhat lackluster.

I was wondering, though, where the shortcomings lie. Is a gun Tengu weak even amongst other Hybrid boats, or is the weakness more in that the HML and HAM tengu utilizing the Accelerated Ejection bay is just better than anything else you can put on the Tengu?

Medium rails are horrible, regardless of the ship.

Blaster tengus are awesome.
Rails, not so much.

the missile sub gives you a 100% total bonus to kinetic missile damage. i do not know of any other subsystem or bonus that high (except on marauders, sansha and other undergunned ships)

I should buy an Ishtar.

Generally you want to stick with missiles. Blasters can be used very effectively if you know what you are doing, but rails are sort of left with no real niche.

Medium rails aren't necessarily bad, there are just better options out there instead of them.

Depressing, as I am trained on both.

I do know blasters were made a bit better, and that medium rails are still lackluster, but other ships, some caldari more gallente, do just fine. That's why I was wondering how the performance of a Tengu with a Magenetic Infusion Basin compares to those ships rather than the other Tengu subsystems. The Accelerated Ejection Bay marginalizes all of the other offensive subsystems (except maybe the Covert Reconfiguration, for certain roles), by being overbonused

While we're on the tengu subject (and I dont want to start a thread) how well does an ECM tengu work? I want to have a second tengy, for pvp. I was looking at the ecm subs + the interdiction nullifier, and have a friend deal dps.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

ECM Tengu works about as good as a Logi Tengu

Ignoring price, the blaster Tengu is a decent ship. Reasonable dps (especially once you look at real-world dps and not EFT numbers), impressive range for a blaster ship, and a solid tank. However, price is the fatal problem. Why pay 500 million ISK and lose SP every time you lose one when you can just get a blaster Brutix and do the job almost as well for a tiny fraction of the price?

I wouldn't be too upset about rails being "bad" right now. In Eve, everything gets its time to shine at one point or another. Just think of it as an investment for future goodness.

Not 100% sure, but I think ECM Armor Tengus are actually used in WH fights.

I can't really compare to the Logi Tengu, as the only logi Tengus ive used are spider tanks, which I don't think those count. As for the ECM Tengu, with near max skills in ECM you can mess stuff up in small fleet fights. All around they are not as good at ECM as a Falcon, but where they lose a little bit of ECM power they gain it in more DPS.

So the summary, yes you can use them and they are used, but typically in specialized fleets/WHs.

Well my corp has an armor ECM Tengu fit at least.
Can't say I've ever used a logi tengu before.
