Hey um,

The Apocrypha site had a audio running in the background
any chance that could be uploaded on the soundcloud site?

Also, I miss how some of the older expansions on the previous websites had their own kind of ''layout'', like Empyrean Age, etc, I really miss that.

Old forums nowhere to be found.

The old link "http://oldforums.eveonline.com/" is giving:

Remember the promises that the old forums will stay indefinitely?

CCP Alice presents the many changes and features in her latest dev blog. The new community website, especially the new adaptive layout, features modern technology and a state-of-the-art landing page with all relevant information available for you.

Read all about the new EVE community website in CCP Alice's dev blog here.

The color scheme is terrible. It's even worse that you totally don't expect something terrible from a professional people like you. It's simply intolerable. I had to enable the high readability CSS just to save my eyes from extreme strain.

Neither link in the original post works, now (Firefox, Win7). As I'm typing this post, FF is trying to resolve the links, but is still trying to connect. Whoa. Wait. The dev blog URL resolved.

Same server response time when browsing in IE, too.

Fiber to the premises here and these forums work just fine, so whatever magic you guys are working on the community site atm has rendered your internet presence unresponsive.

I have to agree with Tonto. The extreme contrast of white on black may be appropriate in some usability scenarios, but this is crazy for extended reading.

Links in every forum post (official and unofficial forums), blog post, etc., linking to the old sites for the past decade are now broken.

Particularly a PITA for dev blogs, support articles, posts with more info, etc.

Google is completely useless now too until it updates and flushes old links.

Looks nice though. Can't wait for EVElopedia overhaul.

Dear Team Roundhouse Kick: I love your work Cool

I have two lists here, one of things that I like and things I don't like about your new community site design. Before you start thinking that there's more things I don't like than things I do like, I'll point out that the two things I do like make your changes absolutely brilliant. The things I don't like are niggles.

Things I like:

  • I can actually read the site on my phone
  • the layout accommodates my phone in landscape or portrait

Things I don't like:

  • Abandonment of RESTful URLs ( …/create/XXX) to old world CGI URLS (…/create?mask=XXX)
  • There is no easy way to get to "Dev Blogs" quickly: the navigation menu takes you to different parts of the site, it would be nice if there was a sub-menu open for the current page which would navigate to headlines on this page (i.e.: 'Odyssey', 'EVE Online News', 'Dev Blogs', 'Game World News', 'Tranquility Status')
  • RSS feeds aren't being curated
  • Old URLs break with no redirects
  • The four-bar icon which we associate with pop-up menus in the game is top-right, tapping it brings up a slide-in menu on the left (the slide-in menu is decent, but could you either switch the icon to the left or slide the menu in from the right?)
  • In portrait layout, the server uptime widget is at the bottom of the content. In landscape mode the uptime widget moves to the "top" of content but still under the big blue advert for Odyssey. This works for the wide-screen version where the uptime widget is on the same row as the Odyssey graphic. Please leave it at the bottom for small landscape displays?

I cannot express how much I would like CCP to get their RSS feeds (and use thereof) into order. The "headline news" feed in EVE Gate still proclaims Alliance Tournament VII as an exciting upcoming event. RSS feeds have been "iffy" for some time, but I'm throwing them in here because they're related to the community site. I suspect that fixing up the RSS feeds would mean I don't actually visit the Community site much, except when following a RSS headline directly to the article of interest.

In the spirit of "putting your logo under the fold" would you consider moving the upcoming event/expansion picture under the news, disappearing the "EVE Community" logo and moving "log in" to the slide-out menu, for small device landscape and portrait modes? This way when I open the community site on the phone, what I see is news headlines which might be new rather than half the screen being taken up by content I don't really care to see right now.

And! You can hide the address bar on mobile devices using WebKit. This also leads into encouraging users to create a Home screen/Springboard icon for the EVE Online website. From my perspective as a user, hiding the address bar means there's that much more screen real estate for news.

Without hiding the address bar, in landscape mode on iPhone 4 we only see the "EVE Community" logo, "LOG IN" and four-bar icon along with the top half of the EVE Odyssey advert. No other content is visible. The next screen down is the uptime widget, then the next screen is where the actual news begins.

Sorry for being such a nitpicker.

I find the new design depressingly black. Also doesn't mix with the forum layout. As someone else has mentioned the big contrast #000 vs. #fff makes it hard on the eyes.

On the page that lists the RSS feeds.

PLEASE add a RSS feed for the Dust 514 Developer blogs. There currently is no way to keep track of it.

Both old and new predefined API key links don't work.

https://support.eveonline.com/api/key/createpredefined/31850504 correctly redirects to
http://community.eveonline.com/support/api-key/CreatePredefined?accessMask=31850504
but whether you go to that URL directly or are redirected, creating the actual key just takes you back to the key creation page.

Houm... how do you do that? Question

At first sight i didn't noticed, but reading through the content is starting to take a toll. Not as bad as the hellish blue headlines on the newsletter, though. Ugh

I'd like to report a bug. When you click on the "Dev Blogs" button at the top bar of the forums, you get redirected to an url that appears no longer to work and you get an error.

Other than that: Really like the changes!

Thank you for adding the missing patch notes for 1.1.7 and 1.1.8.

Double thanks for dropping the old password check when changing passwords, which was a pretty annoying feature.

I have one request for you though. Can you make the lines "Patch notes for EVE Online: ..." on the patch notes page more distinctive, perhaps underline them?

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.
