Introducing: the CSM8 votOmat

Dear fellow capsuleers,

let me introduce you to the CMS8 votOmat, a new community tool designed to support you in making an informed decision when casting your vote for CMS8. The new voting system will allow you to name up to 14 candidates in the order of your preference. votOmat lets you compare your opinion on the game with the platforms of the candidates to find out who might best represent your preferences. We have developed a questionnaire containing 38 questions from a wide field of topics including

  • A look back on the past year
  • Highsec, Wars and Security
  • Industry
  • Lowsec and Faction Warfare
  • Nullsec
  • Wormhole space
  • The role of the CSM
  • Future developments of the game, DUST514 and CREST

that is currently being filled in by the CSM8 candidates. Once the final ballot for the election is announced, you will be able to fill in the very same questionnaire and directly compare your answers to the answers of the candidates. votOmat will compute the level of agreement you have with each of them and present you with a ranked list that you can use to focus your attention and possibly guide you in your further research.

We already have gathered some rather interesting data and you might be in for one or the other surprise. Until the full questionnaire is released you can have a look at the (slightly tongue in cheek) demo campaign.

If you are a candidate, you should have received an invitation in your evemail. Please make sure you register early and fill in the questionnaire. Don't hesitate to contact me if there are any problems.

I think it's great that there are more tools available to help people decide who to vote for :)

The Vote Match questionnaire will be available later this week too.

Vote Match will be cross-linked from votOmat. It will be interesting to see how the results from both tools compare and if you are pointed towards the same candidates on both Smile

Now it's all about getting people to use the tools and get them interested in the elections.

This has the potential to be a fantastic tool. Anything which can increase participation on the voting process can only be a good thing.

There are a few questions where the answers are a trifle restrictive, but that's normal for any kind of questionnaire.

Handy, for voters who want a way to target their reading.

Hope you used the "reason" feature in votOmat to supply your own thoughts on those questions! You can always add this information. It will allow you to expand upon the limited scope of the questions and communicate your perspective on the more complex aspects and interrelations of the issues.

Would be great to see this fantastic Tool updated. There's still only the demo version available. Maybe there's need for a big push by the community, to advertise the votOmat.

The questionnaire will be available for the final ballot. We want to give all candidates the chance to participate before we publish the results. Publicity would be greatly appreciated! Tell your corps and link in your forums, Blogs etc.

Dear fellow citizens,

there has been an update on the votOmat. We have added detailed customisability of the questionnaire. Have a look and familiarize yourself with the demo.

The final ballot of the CSM8 elections will be announced this week and votOmat will publish its results as soon as the voting starts. If you are a candidate please don't forget to submit your answers to the questionnaire before that!

Now it is time to spread the word and inform people about the elections!
