Apparently, CCP are going to make some changes to POSses in the upcoming Odyssey expansion (early June, 2013).

Do we have even a [beeping] clue as to what some of those changes might be?

right now i think everything would be nothing but a wild guesstimate.

but i think some things have been discussed more than others.
modular poses for example as well as less click-click for moon mining / reactions and such.

if in doubt, it might help to ask the following:
what pos change would the large alliances like goons and testbenefit from the most ?

just kidding. of course it will be for the good of us all....

Considering that there's nothing in features and ideas and no dev blogs, I would guess and say no, no one has a blithering clue at the moment. Be patient, watch the forums, watch the dev blogs.

CCP said that they will develop a few things in this patch, and over the next expansions keep building on then. One of the biggest issues with POS at the moment is the way they are accessed and the roles required for them. In order to do anything major to the models or to add new features they would need to sort that entire mess out first.

So dont get excited for modular POS, but expect improvements to roles (as lots of areas of corp management require them) and maybe less clicks to run moon mining etc.

Expect to hear very little until fanfest at the end of next month.

Based on the limited info I have read I would expect the POS changes in this expansion to not be getting into the modular POSes yet, but some base mechanic changes that will set the ground work for those future changes.

One of the biggest problems with POSes right now is the role management to allow corp members to access needed facilities without allowing them access to the entire POS. hopefully this would be one of the first things fixed.

My biggest fear is that the coming POS revamp will not be based on community needs but on some outrageous idea by a developer that they were able to sell to the rest of the developer team. I am sure it would sound great in concept but often these things tend to go horribly wrong when/if player input is ignored.

However, from what I have read in dev blogs on CSM notes, it seems they intend to perform such changes in little steps to avoid breaking anything, and allow players to give there input to influence the final product.

Here's hoping CCP stays on the right path and does not digress into their old ways.

More likely, this:

"It also looks very likely that there are going to be a number of big advances on the POS front, including -- potentially -- personal hangars for individual corp members. That alone should go a long way toward quieting down the angry wormhole contingent, though it's just a first step rather than a solution. The EN24 article has a really funny quote/story from CCP Dolan on this issue...

CCP Dolan told us how the POS code was constructed, in very loose terms. CCP is somewhat forgiven for their lack of progress on it, it sounds like staring into the unblinking eye of an Elder God, fueled by drunken Icelandic programmers. He discussed it as an inverted pyramid and the top of it was rat AI, better known to us as Skynet. Yes, the POS runs on the same NPC AI as pirates and faction police. I **** you ******* not.

Since POSes have to independently shoot at people from time to time, I guess this makes some kind of sense... oh wait, no it doesn't. Yikes."

They also said they planned to release additional sov items such as hub upgrades in later releases. We have seen exactly 0 additional upgrades released since the Dominion expansion.

Doing something about the moon goo, as in the possible dispersion of it around in the new expansion, is at least one tackled SOV issue. At least it'll stir things up.

Hmmm. Going by what is written on the website for the summer expansion it appears the main aspect will be a total overhaul of the Exploration career choice and other aspects such as complexes etc that are involved with probing. Obviously along with that will be the previously announced skill changes to a lot of ships along with additional isk sinks in the form of the much hated 'extra materials' on a number of ships.

I would be over the moon if corporation & alliance roles & permissions with their interactions with POSes/Outposts were overhauled to allow security and multiple member usage of arrays/labs in the summer expansion. Maybe, just maybe, if we can collectively kick up a stink about it at Fanfest this year we can see this happen. I will be there this year for the first time. Big smile

They might add new permissions, but don't think they will rework the whole role management system. I think that **** will take them 1-2 years at least.

My guess is that we won't see much initially but lot's of backend changes just like with crimewatch. These might come with some quality of life improvements as possibilities opens up for the devs.
