[Wish] "Friendship Discounts"

Beeing partially enganged in trading like perhaps anyone else I came across a problem I would like to make a wish for.

When putting up a sell order I would like to have the option to grant some discount (absolute value or percentage) to people in my watchlist I have good and/or excellent standing with and/or a discount to corp and/or alliance members.
These discounted offers could appear with a blue background colour in the market with the price the player would have to pay including the discount.

This would give players the option to sell their stuff to anyone who wants to pay for this and simultaneously give fellow pod pilots the option to grab some special offers. I addition, this could(!) give traders a bit more value in the game as you might want to keep them in good standing.

Don't know if this is only a personal issue or if someone else also came accross this point.

Fly safe.

Could it be? A reason to be nice to carebears instead of ganking them?Lol

That would be nice.

It could also open up some interesting business practices: rather than just giving discounts for actual friends, sell the standings levels that grant the discounts to customers as coupons or discount club fees.

Can't be done. The market is a neutral trading ground. If you want to give friends discount, offer them rebates on sold items.

So it can't be done because a way with more hassle and idiotic behavior that has no relation on how market works in real life exists?

LOL for you.

I've seen this item floated before in tandem with overcharging people you hate. It's a cute idea, though easy to circumvent. Anything that gives carebears and industrialists more reason to network and cut a figure in EVE is good in my eyes.

The market exists as a blind market auction with the middlemen matching trade orders. It's fine for the mass market.

If you want to offer your goods to a specific group I think the contract system could offer a "Friends" only list, outside of the alliance/corp tick box.

Maybe even limit it to a mail list or contacts with the appropriate tags?

Interesting idea - perhaps you could instead set up future orders - take a 20% non-refundable deposit in advance so they can't back out too easily once the items are ready for collection.

Its time to stand up against the bad empire based CEO telling falsehoods about what new characters can accomplish and pushing them towards an in game experience of drudgery and loneliness keeping them in the shadow of ignorance for at nest their own profit at worse apathy towards all the experiences that Eve has to offer.

I wouldn't say the market is totally blind. You can still see who bought merchandise from you or who you bought from. Unfortunately it is after the fact of the sale.

It could be used to see if any of your friends bought from you and you can send some isk back to them. Discount implented!! :)

I'm just going to say this is a good idea, not really something game changing but subtly good and can be used well.

With love,

I'm a bit stunned by the positive feedback and the topic focused discussion. :-)

Thanks for your opinios and input.

When I wrote this I had a few beers before and never would have thought to make it further than 5 respones.

I know from my rather basic SQL skills that this would be far from easy to implement. I just think this would give more reasons to interact with players and not only the UI but not really force anyone to do so (not sure about this). It could create networks of traders and/or industrialists beyond having a shared channel.

The option to do something similiar but negative to players with bad standings towards me could be fun too.

But its still a wish and I hope for some SQL geek to make it happen. The devs will take the apropriate actions out of this thread.

Fly safe.
