My question was intended to elicit information, not as an insult.

When I fly my Dominix for example, I do not think I am a Battle-ship.

I do not act like Stalin despite my avatar's name.

Given some of the overwrought responses thus far, it would also seem that I am not 'touchy' enough to be a role player.

LMFAO ......Who me? ...... no waaaay bro I was just........ "ROLE PLAYING "....... he he he he but your still an idiot.

Calm down, dear capsuleers; Sladislov of the Confederation of xXPIZZAXx will explain what happens. (OOC: I'm the RP director of my alliance).

In 'Tidi' the ships only move relatively slower than the rest of the universe. So the capsuleers won't notice a thing in tidi.

Communications will of course be sent out at a slower rate but when they reach the end of tidi they get compressed back into a non-slowed down format.

If anything given how long it takes people to churn out posts sometimes, TiDi is the only time where the regularity of people's actions and statements makes sense.

Even if you won't admit it, everyone playing a game has taken on some kind of role in game, therefore, role playing. If you immerse yourself even a little bit you've broken that barrier. Some people just take it too far.

"Often during extreme situations such as massive fleet battles, the pod of a capsuleer injects fluids into the pilots body that speed up all processes. This causes them to be able to think faster as the world appears to slow down around them.

However, this is all an illusion caused by the fluids. Everything is still occurring in real time, capsuleers just seem to be able to slow it down from their view point, which can explain their lighting fast reflexes compared to non-capsuleers. "

Or in laymans terms "What Sherlock Holmes does in the recent movies."

That's my personal explanation for it. None of it is cannon but it's the only way I could see it making sense in EVE fiction

Must be a pretty small RP community in EVE. Usually you can find them loitering around in any MMO, but I don't think I've ever actually seen one here.

At one time many moons ago there was a strong RP community. Over the years of CVA being **** on by everyone most of them have left, keep to themselves or dont RP anymore. I probably should have asked this in the RP section of the fourms. Bad Forum Fu on my part. But the answers have been very entertaining.

A question came up today in fleet about Role Playing and Eve Online. None of us could figure it out so it was suggested that we bring it up on the forums.

The question is,

During TiDi do you talk slow?

My question about role play is simply: why?

YOU IDIOT - WHY DO YOU HAVE A AVATAR ? ...... BUT NO I DONT DO ROLE PLAY .

Im so tired of these WIS /role play haters and their ****** up attitude. Your a nerd , your playing computer games ! Dont try and act like a tough nerd ffs cause your not....!

Overreact much?

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

*sigh* Ok, I'll bite.

RPers use channel RP to constantly represent themselves as being in a place where, at that moment, they are not.

The reason for this is that, say, in the case of a bunch of folks from all over the cluster meeting up somewhere for a drink, actually doing that in-game would take ages, complicated levels of coordination, and general hassle. The end result, thanks to the death of WiS, is that we'd still only be sharing a chat channel anyways.

So, we're always showing up in a channel that is supposed to be at a place, partying and chatting it up, while in-game we're blowing people up somewhere. It's assumed that those actions are taking place at another time, since most EVE pilots (the ones who aren't a bit scary) spend half of any given day offline/indisposed.

So really, we're always bending time just a bit. Since we do that all the time, TiDi is small-fry, and taken in stride.

As for why we don't show up in General Discussion, man, look at all this derp. I just had this shirt cleaned...
