If I wanted to make a ship fit that never had to dock up, what would you recommend? I basically just want to spend some time "seeing the galaxy" so survivability and utility take precedence over combat prowess, but it would be nice to not have to run from rookie ships.

I *believe* this means a legion, with covert, emergent, and nullifier subsystems. Not sure where to go from there.

I too would like know, for this is something that interested me very much, tho I would like to have a somewhat higher combat capability and stick to minmatar ships if at all possible.

This question has never been asked before, the answers are not out there. You were correct when you decided starting a new thread about this was a good idea.

I like the idea of doing something like this. I'd personally go with a pilgrim.

Bubbles tend to be the bane of my life. I run solo (the real kind with no alts) so every jump is always blind. If I wasn't trying to find a working fit with a nullifier I think would go with the pilgrim as well.

I'd personally pick either a Legion, as you said, or a drone boat, most likely a Pilgrim. Neither require ammo, and have ample slots to do whatever with you wish.

This seems like a bad fit, but I'm lost for ideas. Might drop some of the exploration tools so it's less crippled.

I would use a tengu personally. It is faster and more agile than a legion will ever be, which is handy for getting off gates, or holes, or wherever. Damage is just about as terrible as the legions but it can project farther and swap damage types at will since its offensive sub does not give specific damage bonus's.

Its slot layout even in the nullified configuration is still good, and its fitting specs are good. Unlike the legion, who's cloak/scan/null slot and fitting configs are beyond TERRIBLE for the cost and risk.

Most importantly, for me at least, its tank will regenerate passively so you do not have to worry about eating boosters or carrying them with you everywhere just to run a tank.

Yes you use missiles but they are both easy to get and small enough so that you can carry a ton of them.

What do you want to do while you are "seeing the galaxy"? Do you want to PvP? Or PvE? Are you planning to visit one area of space at a time? Or do you truly plan to avoid docking up until you die?

Answer those questions and we will have a better idea what kind of ship and fit to recommend.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Given the way a tengu goes through missiles, it pretty much breaks the OP's first request.

The whole "never wanna dock up" thing just seems stupid to me.. I mean, the whole thing where people want to mimic things like Firefly and Clear Skies (lol see my char name) seems awesome, but they land and dock etc., so no reason why these people can't. :)

Go fly around the great wildlands awhile. Or ninja in SOV nullsec and see how many places you can dock up.

I was thinking something very similar. The ideal ship would be a covert interdiction nullified shield tanked T3 with lasers. If you can do that with a Legion, do it - but my suggestion was going to be an arty Loki.

I would want to mainly try and seek out treasure, so scan out some sites and see what I find. Hopefully the ability to do combat with low sec and c1-2 rats and I wouldn't say no to targets of opportunity, especially if they are distracted by other parties.

I would plan to stay in space for at least a month without docking if I survive that long. Diving in wormholes, jumping to the edge of the galaxy, and anywhere in-between a whim takes me.
