  1. Have agents randomly temporarily run out of missions, forcing pilots to go elsewhere to find their missions. = 6 hours
  2. Have agents go on business trips or get sick. = 1 day
  3. Have agents go on vacation, and be temporarily unavailable. = 5 days
  4. Have all agents for one faction in one constellation go on strike for more pay. = 3 days
  5. Have agents die of old age or in accidents, and have to be replaced. = ? days
  6. Have new agents screw up and send you to the wrong coordinates, or give you the wrong information regarding a mission.
  7. Have female agents get pregnant, have babies and go on maternity leave. = 1 month
  8. Have male agents go on paternity leave while their wives continue working (for you feminists). = 1 month

Can you think of any others?

It's apple pie all the way down.

This made me chuckle. I guess it's a good way to mess with people.

You could have the agent idle talk about their children and how they hate their new boyfriend. I'm not sure how it adds to the game, but it sounds amusing.

uhm... to sum it up it would say...eve sandbox needs to get more dynamic, but maybe in a different way

- agent payout should depend on how badly agents are farmed (supply and demand). this would also help to spread out people.
- agents themselves should come and go, yes. with good standing you should be notified of changes of your corp (a new agent coming to life)
- very high(low) standings should decay back to average high(low) standings over a year or so
- seldom random high priority missions broadcasted to people having high standing so they can be trusted (you need to travel there and accept and complete mission in 4h or so)
- make standings more important than it is right now
- failing a courier and getting loss in faction standing seems a bit harsh (especially as they dont pay well first place)!

So when the people who play eve, for the missioning part, comes to the agent and he went on holydays with hes family for a month, the supscriber needs to log off for amonth or start from 0 again with another agent ?

lmao. +1.

but really, if there is only 1 L4 agent around and you needed to decline already, 4h is long enough to wait for another chance...

Well, that's just a defeatist attitude. With faction and corp standings, which concern people more than individual agent standings, it's rare that a pilot has to start from '0' with any agent. Use the Agent Finder, and go and find another level X agent.

And it was maternity/paternity leave that was for a month, which would be a less frequent occurrence than vacations, which were just 5 days.

...Atleast I dont see any point to add more inconvenience in to the game.
After day at work I wanna sit back and play abit, not to haul my stuff back and forth because my usual agent is pregnant...

but while on topic why not to add:
market management system crash (market is unavailable for 6h)
jump portal maintenance (unable to jump for 4h)
station tractor beam refocusing (unable to dock for 7h)
virus in isk bank (unable to transfer isk for Xh)
labor strike (factory slots offline for Yh)
fitting crew in flu (cant refit ship for 48h)
clone bay out-of-sync (cant upgrade clone)
etc... to add more FUN to the game

lots of nice ideas there!

my overall goal would be to give the sadly static sandbox a life of its own (npc/pve side), to
- increase immersion in the game
- offer a more diverse and interesting gameplay to less pvp-focussed players.
- make pve and pvp blend

maybe there could be ways to influence these kind of "inconveniences" you listed by players, actually wouldnt this be some way of factional warfare?
- gallente militia causing caldari agents to give out no more missions for some time...
- gallente militia working together with gallente npc to shut down 2 gates to jita...

i would love see if standing got more meaning and would also be more dynamic. it could affect your own chances of being affected or if you get informed of such things? maybe due to your standings you could still get a mission?

Maybe if CCP would add some events where people have opportunity to do different stuff.
Incursions and those sansha carriers in high sec are nice start.
this just needs more man power from CCP to get things done and rolling...
BUT creating obstacles into normal game play...I dont see how this would make game more enjoyable

More realistic from a 'human' interaction perspective.

uglybass wrote:

These things would be automated in New Eden.

i like when things can be countered and are offered to find a way around problems. so instead of making it just impossible to start production or dock at a station...

first of all it should be a small random chance of stuff happening, why not have a bad day and things get complicated. but it would just cause you some more work to reach your goals, and decide if its worth extra cost / effort:
- no production: maybe you need to finish a 2-part courier for an NPC agent so on sucess he will bribe the statition manager to allow you to start production
- no docking: option to "pay" with little amount of npc corp standing to get access (calling in a favor, talk to station manager's superiors. afterwards npc corp will not like you as much anymore)
- upgrade clone: maybe just extra cost or also allow to pay with standing (you shouldnt need to leave station wihtout ;))

things like this...

@Ostraka Kadesh, maybe you could incorporate ideas and common ground into your top post and set a more abstract descriptive headline? uhm... random npc interactions and inconvenience, options to interact with npc events, ...? ideas please...

Dont realy like the idea tbh, theres are days, sometimes weeks before i log in to do stuff in eve, and i sure dont want to back in to eve after a week or something to se my agent went on a holydays.

Would agree that there could be done something to the agents, so that it would be more interesting, but as to what i have no clueWhat?

There are 8 distinct ideas in my OP.

I have no idea what you mean by 'common ground'; I know what the phrase itself means.

You're probably right about setting a less abstract, more descriptive post title. I apologise.

This idea could definately work with creating a variaty of interesting events happening. however, i feel you guys have been focusing on only the negative. why not offer surprise bonuses? or if an agent makes a mistake and sends you to the wrong place, would they not try to make it up to you. either by paying for your time or offering you a special mission?

(-this is probably because im a rpg fanatic: but ive always liked the idea of engaging in conversation with agents. and what you choose to say would affect what mission they would offer and how much reward you would get.) -this would definately help vary the lack of interaction you have with agents, but realize that it probably would never happen because of the scale of work it would take to implement (thats why ive not made it a thread)

The negatives are more easy to draw from real life, but, yes, it would be nice to have some more positive interactions.

How about ...

  1. It's the agents' birthday. +10% ISK per mission for 1 day.
  2. The agent has just been promoted and wants to start off well in his/her new position. +10% LPs & ISK per mission for 1 day.
  3. The agent has just recieved an excellent employee evaluation. +5% & ISK per mission for 1 day.
  4. The agent just came into some money (inheritance, lottery, etc.) and is feeling generous with his corp's money. +50% ISK per mission for the next 10 missions.
  5. The agent simply 'woke up on the right side fof the bed' today. +10% LPs per mission for 1 day.
  6. The agent had a hot date last night. +5% LPs & ISK for the next 10 missions.

It's apple pie all the way down.

Nothing breaks immersion more than the current diet of rinse and repeat missions.

I would prefer far more variety in missions (especially courier missions) but anything that makes the whole system more dynamic and forces you into new situations would be great.

Having said that not sure some of the suggestions are going to stick....What?
