NPC and damage type delivered

Alright,
I always see on the forums and other sources that there is a certain type of damage to deliver to npcs to get maximum effectiveness.
Lets take drones for example. Its said I should deliver EM damage. Right now my tengu inflicts 715 kintetic damage, but only 572 em. What should i do, continue to inflict more kinetic but have it be less effective, or deliver less EM damage, but have it be more effective.

EM missiles for Amar racial rats and rogue drones, kinetic for rest.
