Certificates for pirates and carebears alike

There aren't any piratey certificates in EVE. Hull tanking is the closest and that's tenuous at best. Carebears perhaps have a better opportunity to work towards something like business entrepreneur elite or somesuch but what EVE needs right now is a series of goals to achieve.

The modern day videogamer identifies with percentage numbers and achievements unlocked and all that bullshit rather than applying their imagination and creativity to simply enjoy themselves.

CCP should commodify fun so we can have something to strive for and so we can attain a sense of accomplishment while our bodies slowly decay as we sit staring at a computer screen.

Here, this proves my membership of the nitpickers association.

Now, that's not Quake. MULKTIKILL!!! is from unreal tournament. Also, it wasn't multkill that went m-m-m-m. It was in fact:

M-M-M-M-M-MONSTER KILL!!!

Stop the spamming, not the scamming!

OWNED! Oops

yeah... its been a while, but for source games the mod is clearly labled QUAKE sounds, not that they would get it right either.

Must be because Quake 3 if i'm not mistaken had those sounds =). Also depending on what source game you're talking.. its built on ID Tech 2. (or 3.. can't remember).

At any rate... why you'd want to bother with certificates its beyond me. They are as usefull in EVE as they are in RL and for the same reason..

They are far too easy to get.

The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die.

Add some certificates:

Elite parrot petting
Elite Rum guzzeling
Elite stereotype fulfilled

Would be awesome.

As a pirate.
A leader of a pirate corp.
A leader of a pirate alliance.

I don't care at all about Certificates.

I've never used them as a tool to identify the SP level of a potential recruit, I've never used them as a way to trumpet my skills. And I've never used them as a basis for the quality of my char's.

If folks are basing their worth on a bunch of certificates, then they don't know what a pirate is. I base my pirate skills on how many large 0.0 alliance's have my alliance set red. How many ships we've killed/lost this month. How much damage we've done vs how much damage we've received. Isk out vs isk in from loot..

FiS FiS FiS FiS FiS FiS FiS FiS FiS FiS FiS FiS MIcrotransactions are for DEAD MMO's. NOT for successfull ones. I already pay for 5 accounts. I WILL NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING ELSE!!!

I'd be quite happy if certificates just vanished from the game.

meh, I kind of think its a good tool for understanding the inner connectivity of the skills and how they all relate to one another.

I scratched my back, and cleared the fluff out of my navel. The feeling of accomplishment was orgasmic. I want a certificate now.

Well only thing I can say is certs say for soldier or special forces, those could change to a pirate name. Also there are ewar certs.

Suppose there are administrator pirates so certs renames are needed.

Would "You are now a qualified *******" be appropriate?
What about "Certificate IV in wankerage"?

Then again, there's always "Congratulations, everyone hates your ******* guts and you're not even a Goon" certificate.

Endless... Simply endless...

"FORCED ENTRY"

-- if they ever introduce ramming into the game of course.

I don't know why, and I have been doing it since 2006, but every time I smack someone in the head with a rifle butt in COD2, I giggle like Loreena Bobbit in a sausage factory.

For pirates I think there should be certificates for honored ransoms and certificates for dishonored ransoms. This would help separate true pirates from the "kill everything that moves" crowd.
