Unresponsive Client and Closed Socket Errors

Hi,

I have a late 2011 - early 2012 MBP (the version that was available right before the Retina MBPs were released).

Multiple times a day, the client either stops responding or I get a socket error, and the app crashes. Some of the times, I'm simpy browsing the market inside a station. Other times, I'm mining or warping through a gate.

I tend to run EVE in tandem with iTunes and Google Chrome (with only a few tabs open).

I've scoured the forums for a solution, and the solution I found involves purchasing a VPN. I am not willing to pay for a VPN to play a game.

Is there something else I can do to alleviate this issue?

Here's my configuration for reference:

  • CPU: 2.2 GHz Core i7
  • Memory: 8GB
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 750M 512mb
  • OS: 10.8.2

I'm currently on a cable connection. My Download/Upload speed is 44 Mbps / 10 Mbps, which sadly, is the fastest available connection in my area at the time of writing this message.

Thank you.

I literally have the same setup as OP and am getting Socket Errors consistently about one-three minutes into every login.

Bump.

This is becoming ridiculous. No problems earlier this week, and then six socket errors in a row today.

Very similar laptop setup.

I have been experiencing this a lot too recently, and its not very good when I PVP a lot.

This has nearly caused me a death one of two times.

Same issue here, this is my first day of trying to play Eve, I'm a little disappointed that it is basically unplayable.

EDIT (24/03/2013): Today it was much improved, a longer term eve player told me it was server problems.

I have a current iMac, patched to current levels. Since the 1.19 patch was installed this morning, I am getting socket closed errors every 10 to 15 minutes.

I have had to reboot my Mac several times because of the garbage that is collecting from the Eve crashes. Because of the User Agreement, I am hesitant to run the debugger and see what is going on. I don't want to be banned from Eve.

I have been running a network sniffer and the traffic does not make sense, Eve will send several duplicate packets and then close the socket.
