Monk had my vote from the start.

I have said it from the start and I was right.

I never saw James as a candidate since I look at him as a joke. I just could not take that dude serious.

His only achievement is making what people have been doing for a very long time on their own a bit more public. And that is suicide ganging.. nothing more nothing less. Miner bumping... please...

Thank you. The pod was delicious too, although Floppie did pretty much all the initial legwork there. I just showed up as muscle.

I am a high sec carebear and newbie, and I strongly disagree with me being ganked (you can ofc gank my competition), and in no way do I endorse Psychotic Monk...

...but I absolutely agree about the needed corp changes. I have left 1 very fun corp because according to my calculations I was making a LOT more money alone, and I declined a very good corp because of their 15% tax. I am sitting in a one man corp counting my hard earned ISK. Sad

Corp rules needs a change!

Yeah. Not only that, but I can't see any way that players can make player corps better than NPC corps without going after moons or something like that. My usual stance is that anything a player can be doing shouldn't be laid at CCPs feet to change, but I think we might need a hand here.

Monk and I had a good time debating a bunch of topics on Declarations of War. Like myself and Alekseyev Karrde, we have divergent opinions about a lot of things, but that was less important than the tone of the debate.

Monk impressed me as a candidate who has the skillset to be an effective member of the CSM. Unless he does something totally braindead, he'll be on my recommended ballot -- and higher than some people might imagine.

Preliminary voting hopefully starts tomorrow, let's make sure Monk and the other good candidates have an easy time qualifying.

That was fun. Couldn't have done it without Monk's neuts.

Monk,

With the changes on Mining Barges (ore cargo hold), almost no one jetcan mines anymore and so the Ore Thief career is on the brink of extinction. "Professional ore thieving" was alot of fun, it was something that made EvE unique, and now it's almost gone.

What's your take on this subject?

I really didn't like the changes to the barges. Miners were refusing to tank their boats and so CCP did it for them. Beyond that, 30 minutes of mining on one button click is a bit absurd. I also miss the ore thief profession. The whole affair just makes me deeply sad.

I generated a new story just this morning! I'm a bit behind on my blogging, though, and I have to make a post begging for posts first, so you may have to wait a day or two. :D

Hi, I'm I guess what you call a "carebear" noob trying to eke out a living with mining and PI. I have tried on numerous occasions to mine solo in lowsec/nullsec but the results were pretty miserable.

Couple questions:

1. Would you be in favour of making lowsec mining more appealing to solo miners/corps ?
(ex. adjusting ore yields)

2. What do you think about making jump clones available with a much lower standing.
You can get them through a free jump clone service if you know about it anyways so why not make it oifficial?
Then players like me would be willing to take more risks.

3. Do you think skill learning should be accelerated for the first 30 days of a character life?

4. Generally, so far I see everyone talking about making the "stick" on highsec mining/industry bigger. What about the "carrot" of lowsec/nullsec? What kind of incentives should be introduced to make a new player like me move to lowsec/nullsec? a player who's about 2-6 months old?

thanks

So if I'm understanding you correctly, you have no objection to me setting up a risk-free moongoo reaction farm on dickstarred towers in C1 W-space where there is ~0 risk of someone bothering to set up a large tower of their own, put up (and risk during build process) multiple billions of isk into building a dread in that hole, and then blapping my towers? (and then SDing the dread because it is not reusable for any other purpose)?

I'd save myself all of that work and simply anchor bubbles on your tower, effectively preventing you from fueling the tower or emptying silos. At that point you'd have two options: anchor and online guns to take down the bubbles (requires you to offline hardeners, making it easier to siege with subcaps) or shoot the bubbles yourself, which wouldn't preclude me from anchoring more bubbles. If you mean an ECM tower, that's a bit more challenging, sure, but not impossible.

Sorry for the late reply.

1) There does need to be more incenstive for industry to happen in low and null. I'm not currently of the opinion that that needed difference lay in reward. I feel the issue lay in the fact that miners in highsec are so safe that they can be entirely AFK. It's a fairly large bonus to yield that would be required to combat the fact that a lowsec miner can only work for a couple hours before someone comes in and pokes their nose in, probably shutting down the op and miners in highsec can run for eight hours only having to worry about pressing the mining laser button every half hour.

I'm open to arguments to the contrary, but I haven't yet seen one that has prompted me to rethink my position on this.

2) I don't see how that'd be a problem, especially considering the existence of free jump clone service.

3) There is a cereberal accelerator that comes with certain editions of Eve, and they work in a similar fashion. I could see it, although I will note that getting into ships above your ability and losing them, thus wiping out your entire wallet, is already a problem for newbies and I don't want to see that problem ruin more newbies.

4) I am not a nullsec industry dude, but several seperate nullsec industry dudes that I trust tell me that the buffs nullsec would need to counter the advantages that highsec have would be very significant. They tell me that more slots and better refining are a big piece of this puzzle, but not as big as the safe logistics and huge proliferation of cheap-as-free manufacturing slots are. As with above, I'm open to arguements to the contrary, but the arguements I've heard and the dudes who's opinions I value in this area have me standing more on the side of nerfing highsec industry, although not to the exclusion of buffing nullsec industry.

Again, on subjects of nullsec industry I am very far from being an expert, and if I were on the CSM I would be deferring to dudes more qualified for this purpose unless there was a very glaring error.
