The best strategy is to smell worse than they do.

Please, whatever you do, don't all show up trying to smell worse than everyone else, then we are in trouble Sad

The lingering scent of Santorum from all of the carebears must be overwhelming.

I think 200million people died from the Plague because of poor hygiene. Luckily not everybody has your mindset these days Smile

Folk died form plague because they were in close proximity to rats, more specifically, rat fleas which carried the bacteria, Yersinia Pestis, which could and did jump onto humans once the host rat population was insufficient to provide enough host bodies for the flea population.

Personal hygiene had very little to do with it.

People in the middle ages were pretty dumb about a lot of things.

Though, honestly, not much has changed.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

This is by far, the most hilarious posting of 2013.

And you guys are making this way more complicated that it should be.

The only sensible (and potent) solution would be to do something about men to women attendee ratio of 99.99:0.001.

It is most likely that the vast majority of EVE Online players' female interaction during their pitiful existence, involved only with their own mothers or grandmothers

Men do not need to concern themselves with obnoxious BO smell with other males, but when there are other female counterparts, the whole attitude changes.

tsk, tsk, tsk... Folks need to learn how to plan more diplomatic style solutions to the problems.

Example:

- Hold the conference at Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura - they have a swimming pool and set up around that.
- have the hotel over chlorinate the water a bit and step up the filter pumps a touch.
- Get 'bouncers' who's job it is to 'bounce' folks into the pool who are offensive in that way, then fish them out.

A brief PC apology for the accidental bump into the pool but they do come out a tad fresher than they went in. If a bit more is needed, a couple more "oops" are applied... problem solved!

Just one solution. :-p

I am really interested to see how this all plays out now.

You know you all could just put bounties on the stink bags that'll teach 'em!

Taking bathes is a disgusting habit where you stew in your own swill. Shower, people, SHOWER! Unless you enjoy the smell of your own stink and poop and whatever else clings to your body, permeating your pores, and truly becoming at one with yourself.

Edit: Poop is not censored, fe-ces, the actual proper word for it, IS.... Wtf CCP?

Confirming that this thread has completely put me off going. I'm definetely not going to an event where all the blokes stink to high heaven. I'll watch anything I need to online.

I have been speaking to a few people who attended fanfest last few times, and their words were "...the stench of BO is so unbearable especially when its such a small hall, if you are planning on going either take a hot girl with you to scare away the nerds or wear a gas mask, its that bad when everyone begins to party..."

Now I work out and know sometimes things can smell bad, but im not stuck to them and the fanfest videos show very little space to breathe (or move).

What measures will CCP be taking to prevent this health hazard?

Are you sure it was BO and not....well.....Iceland? 10,000 sulfur spewing geothermal vents takes a toll on delicate american noses.

Nerfing High-sec is never the answer. It is the question. The answer is 'YES'.

Last year was actually ok. 2009 was disastrous.
Maybe the welcome pack for attendees should also contain a bar of soap ("Fleur de Gallente") and a leaflet informing about its use.

Seeing as how the Gallente are based on the French, I somehow don't believe this will help.

I'm glad to see Old Spice has made a comeback these last few years. For decades they were primarily a product only grandpas bought.

Look down, now look back again, I'm shaved and standing on top of a Stabber. Now down, and up again, the Stabber is now a Vagabond and the hold is full of diamonds.
