Noob Hints and Tips to Flying?

Hey there,

Getting into PvP and so far i've faced two issues that I really am struggling on, and could use your help.

Firstly its flying manually - While I want to ask the question "How do you do this", I know the idea is to double click a location in space, while predicting where your opponent will go - But it just seems so, I dunno, unresponsive? For example, a person webs me and starts to orbit out of range, so I try to predict where his orbit will take him, but by the time i've clicked the area, my ship is literally barely trying to move there. I'm assuming all this just comes with experience, but any tips for how to improve?

Secondly, its keeping track of where the enemy ship is - It seems that, since i'm flying frigs, and my opponents usually are themselves, we are both going so fast that I find it hard to tell where the enemy ship is moving, as well as where I am in relation to the enemy ship - It gets even more confusing when I accidently fly out of targeting range, or get disrupted in some way, because then i'm panicing trying to lock the ship again, but finding it difficult to realise where he is so I can, again, predict his movements.

Sorry its a bit wordy, but thought i'd just let you know what i'm struggling with so you can hopefully give me some advice for improving in the future, or any hints and tips that might help me become a better pilot

TL;DR I find manual flying, and keeping track of opponent extremely difficult - Any hints or tips?

I'll adjust my zoom if I need to keep track of things when manually piloting. You could use the new camera tracking mode in the scanner or use the 'advanced camera settings' to set parent and subject for more perspective / visibility.

If you're really quick at trig or have good common sense, you can figure out a lot about a target's heading using the information on your overview: transversal velocity, velocity, and distance provide good indicators about how the target is moving. Looking at his blip on the screen (his bracket) fills in the details.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

For most thing you fly manual flying is just used for adjustments and such..

Most of the time being a good pilot is knowing how to use the automated tools to their fullest potential. Exceptions to this would be kiting skirmishes against larger groups.

Google Youtube for a video on spiraling... and as for manual flying in close orbit... you might be able to find a youtube video of that too.
