I have to admit the 2nd option is probably more practical.

the second example might be more practical, but then there is the risk it will only be available for normal T1 ships and not faction/T2. and I really really want to get a navy mega that's not covered in camo.

Meh, so what? We need it done right not practical

It may be possible with only a simple color overlay. 95% opacity.

Only if its on Nex or the market though at fair values.

A spray can of each color can be added for 500 AUR.

Maybe 3 uses per can of spray paint.

That would be so awesome.

why do you people expect something sophisticated when CCP has shown us they have a horrible time to build/work the UI.

If you've ever played on SiSi over years and years time, you realize how badly CCP implements new UI/Windows/Interfaces, they actually struggle at their own game engine. This is one of the reasons why CCP takes so long to import new things, they just code random sh-t and make a big mess of the engine. Like it is now this moment they develop expansion packs dedicated to fixes and make it harder on themselves to import something newly radical.

They can promise all they want for you to your face at fanfest OP. lol. Doesn't change their company model.

I know CCP obviously has the best knowledge in their own game, but aside from UI implementation this is a far stretch for CCP to accomplish ''ship painting'', and will only shortcut this by forcing you to buy preset skinned vessels. ....which later leads up to NEX: It might provide some random preset skins, but as far as to my knowledge this is abandoned and won't be implemented soon, probably not even on our upcoming v3. If it were to be introduced currently, it would only be a few selection of ships eligible for a restyle, and total waste of time (I cannot clarify this enough to the devs).

v3 might include corp/gang logos on hull in the future, but that's all for personal customization. don't expect nothing more but preset styles on only few selected ship hulls if CCP takes a swing, even if so that's lame and a small accomplishment.

The idea is cool and would be awesome, but is a whole new EVE frontier to surpass the v3. Not happening for years. if this were possible, CCP would have already implemented visuals of hull/battle damage (like in a FPS game of bullet marks on a wall, but instead on a ship, or overshooting your ship). This is a later step and CCP spoke too soon, ahead of themselves.

They been able to do custom colour palettes for years (and i mean years) without any new texturing methods, they just don't want to do it outside of nex it seems.

This character is no longer affiliated with the Caldari Prime Pony Club.

350 m to paint 7 ships? And new players can't do it without pay with real money?

if they do this through Nex, they will enrage the community and they know it.

anyway, id LOVE preset skins for each ship. i have no problem with that at all.

true I don't doubt it at all, even our carbon characters are preset color palettes, and the corporation creation emblems are all preset colors and graphics. That's the waste if they go through, we only get a presets of a few models.

Just look at the NEX Store, hardly anything there to buy, only under 20 items over the year, how could CCP promise us multiple skins of ships with a dozen unique preset models? Not at this rate they cant, they're way too slow to introduce this now and will meet a bitter fail compared to the failure of this WiS catastrophe.

This is just a totally dead wish and CCP cannot promise this. They can promise a lot of things, but simply just forget or fail.

Incorrect. The answer is 21. 350m isk = 1 PLEX = 3,500 AUR - (3,500/500) * 3 = 21 Painted ships or 16.6m ISK per Ship

No, not much ego. Much pride.

Earning your metaphorical 'stripes' and showing your metaphorical 'colors.'

Much Pride...

Let the grown ups handle the decisions, Hungry Eyes.

CCP devs are mature enough not to be afraid to 'enrage' you by doing the right thing.

I actually have a fairly high threshold for what I would pay (in ISK or Plex/Money) if I could color my ship Pink and Black.

I created Ave Molech and I love ponies.

Yep, most players would shell out tons of isk to show off a pink/black battlecruiser or frig. Heck, I know I would. Twisted

Yet when given the opportunity to have players throw money at them they said:

"Let's make dresses and boots and shirts!!!!!"

I know bowls of pudding that could manage CCP better than Hilmar.

Like the first idea with the fitting slots, but no.

This would only populate New Eden with sad stick which will be the pink deimos.

Do we really need to see that everywhere ?

Guess it will show up the capsuleers with 'issues' What?
