Closing wormhole

I know people use Orcas to close wormholes. But if for example the wormhole was critical and the ship would be on the other side will it make it back if there is less mass available than the ship?

Yes it will make it back. The wormhole will collaps once the jump is completed.

This is the truth. Now that you know the secret, you can take off the probe launcher and cloak and fit something else in case you get jumped while closing. Maybe a heavy neut instead?

Yes, noone should ever need fit a probe launcher to the ships used for rolling holes. Mass is never variable...no worries.

do people not use double-bubble Hictors for this anymore? Also can you make this happen faster by putting a mwd on the orca?

I think that since the mwd affects the mass, it can speed up the collapsing. But the Heavy Interdictors are a no-no because their mass.(Though these might work for fine tuning)

if your static/other wh is in a VOC state use a HIC with 2xbubbles and a 100mn AB fitted, warp to your static/other wh, turn on both of the bubbles (reduces your mass significantly) jump, turn on 100mn AB and jump back to close the wh.

Mwd on Orcas is the way to go when closing a C4. You jump those babies back and forth till the hole goes half, and then leave it on the static side. Then you use s 100 MN MWD cruiser to get it down to critical, jump the cruiser back through without it's MWD, and then jump the Orca through with the MWD on. 99.9% of the time the hole will then fold behind the Orca.

P.s, and for god's sake use a cloak on the orca.

P.p.s Don't be as stupid as the German corp who jumped two orcas through at a time. We got an easy kill that day when the hole folded, leaving an Orca on the wrong side.

Of course they do. But, the Orca is just as useful to quickly shave 600 - 1.2mil kg off the mass as well.

You can do it with an AB instead of MWD, incidentally. A little less painful to fit. ABs and MWDs of the same size all give the same mass penalty when active.

To each his own I guess. When we are rolling I prefer to get the orca's out of harms way as quickly as possible. So we have 3 orca pilots and plenty of HIC pilots.

3 Orca's bam bam bam, hole is crit or near crit. 3-4 HIC's and popped. This gets the orca's done and docked quickly, and those pilots back in PVP ships just in case.

One more or less safe way to close a C4 connection with 2 billion mass is to go:

Orca 100MN both ways, 600
Battleship 100MN both ways, 300
Battleship no AB/MWD 200
Battleship 100MN Both ways, 300
Orca 100 MN both ways. 600

This works 9 times out of 10.
If needed in the end us a multibubbled HIC for the final closing.

IF there's been a few BC/cruiser jumps then you're more than safe to go with this for a clean closure.
Tho keep your eyes on that 50% mark, else you can be thrown off to the wrong side.

Always keep adding or subtracting your jumpmass to/from the wormholes total allowed mass.

Well, we play on the timing it takes to scan down holes. If we know a hole is fresh then if we see probes on D-scan we get the Orca Posed up. There's a chance of being jumped, but that's where care and paranoia are your friends.

If it's for hole-killing alone, the 100MN AB is a good option, but on an Orca, that 100MN MWD can get you into warp in 10 seconds without anybody needing to web you. You need a PG rig or something, but I think it's worth it.

Well.. You need 3xPG rigs.. Not worth it, I usually have a frig that webs me on the home side. So much better.

Confirming that this is the way.

Also confirming that rex has managed to get himself locked out of our hole.
