What if there was a distress call? one that if someone was in the system they could click the button and be warped in to help out. Just an idea to throw out.

except that by the time they warp to you you are dead lol

Yeah, that's true, but I do like the premise. If there is a way for players to solve the issue that doesn't require like setting up a huge corporation and organizing everything in advance that certainly would be appealing. Like maybe they set it up so that if you get shot first in hi sec you can hit a distress button. It immobilizes you, cancels CONCORDE, prevents you from doing anything at all, but makes you invulnerable for 90 seconds and sends out a distress call to local that people can click on to warp to you.

I haven't thought that through, but you get my drift I think. Something where the players could protect one another would be cool.

Ya i would say just keep it simple and the invulnerability thing is anything but simple. Buff miners just a little bit. just long enough for someone to respond to the call. and why make it only for miners? but any system that will make it easyer for players to jump in and help or hurt someone is fine. A distress call in RL isnt just sent to people on your side. SOS goes out to every one.

Well, without CONCORDE coming you'd need to buff them quite a bit for them to survive long enough for people to get there. Which could be quite a while given that somebody has to see the distress call, decide whether they want to respond to it, probably recall their drones or undock or something, then warp there.

You could make it a module. Say maybe activating it gives you a 60% resistance buff for 90 seconds or something? I don't know exactly what it would need to be, but maybe enough that a hulk could survive 5 bs gankers for 90 seconds or so? With a cooldown of an hour or something so you can't use it again in the same fight.

I wouldn't say just make it for miners necessarily, but I suspect they're the only ones that would need it. A combat ship has enough tank to have some decent options already. An industrial probably can be popped pretty consistently before it even has a chance to hit a button.

No doubt. You'd probably be calling down some extra gankers on your head too. Sounds cool to me. Turn ganking into an actual PvP experience.

Quoting before you can edit this. Apparently pirating does takes some brains; pirates tend to have a better command of the English language than high-sec whiners like you.

If something is slightly out of balance (meaning that one type of players feel that some other type of players have an "unfair" advantage), it's good for the game as you always tend to look for one more creative way to work around it. Nerfs come when that slight imbalance is used excessively by one type of players.

That's what happened with nano, that's what happened with supercaps, that's what will happen with suicide ganking. I don't exactly know how you could expect anything else to happen while knowing what happened in similar situations in the past. Is it for the good of the game or not, that's another story.

Personally, I like the gankings and non-consensual PvP in highsec because it makes the game interesting. But if some players insist on forcing that mechanic to its limits, nerf will most likely happen.

How about this? Make it so you can't biomass an alt with a negative security status and you can't shoot anybody in high sec on a trial account. Would that be a change everybody could live with?

This might help a bit, but in the end I think it will only end up as limitations in the game since there will still be alot of people using other ways to exploit. I'm not gonna describe exactly how they do it, but haven't you seen all of the 3 weeks or so old amarr characters in noob corps sitting in apocs suicide ganking?

These rules will not stop them.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I would think that would be exactly what it would stop. I'm assuming that they just use those characters for however long they can before their security status drops too low, biomass, and roll new ones. Is that not true?

But, IMO the goal with that kind of approach wouldn't be to prevent suicide ganking. Just to make the people doing it face the consequences. They'd either have to grind their security status back up periodically or do the orca trick. Either way, that seems more like a fair fight to me. If they're grinding security status up, they're certainly putting in the effort and deserve the reward. If they're using an orca then the person getting ganked gets a lot of warning and it limits their options pretty dramatically since that approach doesn't really work for gate and station camping. Plus it means they have a little skin in the game since people could actually set them back a bit by suicide ganking their orca.

Tip: trial accounts can't fly apocs, gonna leave it at that.

Right... That's why I'm saying they use alts, biomass them when their sec status gets low, and roll new ones. I mean using the alts on their paid accounts.

in all seriusness concord doesnt need buffing, it insta pops folks as it is, although AI imporvments on OTHER NPC's would be welcome,

a better solution would be remove concord payouts for criminal acts , i dont think that it woudl be that hard to do really.

suicide ganking needs to stay though unless CCP have decided to go soft .

I don't suicide gank, nor have I been ganked. As a neutral party, who in the future would probably be the one ganking, I have to say that I don't see why an insurance company would pay out claims to someone who purposely destroyed their ship.

Thank you Mittens. This will do one of two things.

1) CCP will call your bluff and will take measures to secure highsec

OR

2) Fully support your actions and allow it to repeatedly occur.

If it does anything, it will finally inform the playerbase of how strong or weak your supposed influence is.

Once we've worked that out we can all go back to our game and guffaw or emoragequit and you can go back to playing Emperor in whatever emotional state you want to live in.

PS: I would have thought you'd wait until drone minerals were removed though. THAT would force the issue don't you think?

Why do you suppose those are the only two options? Not doing anything is always an option...
